Does anyone have an idea of the average AUW of this plane with a specific engine (or even better the weight out of the box)? It looks nice but Phoenix planes tend to be heavy.

It's very light and flies lite, my kit is coming in slight over 17 pounds or 7.7 kilos with a single battery and a DLE 61 setup. Also, there's carbon rods running along the fuselage and wings and bunch of cut outs on the wood structure. In matter in fact it was so light I had to reinforce some areas...

Thank you for the valuable info. 7.7kg with a DLE61 is pretty good. Do you have experience with other brands such as Goldwing, Aeroplus, EG, Pilot RC, EF, Skywing, etc? How would you compare in terms of construction quality, hardware, finishing, etc?
Also, do you fly 3D/XA? If so, what about flight characteristics?
My impression of Phoenix kits was always of overly built scale/ sport planes with little design. From the outside this Slick does look nice but inside still looks like other Phoenix RC planes.

Wooster is a friend of mine and although I haven't flown it, I am familiar with the airplane. it flies fine and doesn't have any surprises. the canopy came off in flight and was damaged. it was repaired and is flyable again, but no news on how long for a replacement. we have had or have pilot, EF, 3DHS, and H9 ARFs, the SW in my avatar is another friend's, so I think I can speak to how it compares. it might be comparable to first generation EFs which were mostly all wood. the overall fit and finish is okay, but not EF. If you want something to beat on, it's probably okay, if you want the current quality and carbon laminate construction, then look to the more known brands.

Thanks for the honest feedback, I'm still considering it as an option and would obviously do my hardware upgrades if I pick one. Question: has he already tried a KE spin with it? Does it enter the maneuver easily?
BTW, Tower Hobbies has the canopy in stock in case Wooster haven't seen.

Just got one NIB pretty cheap. Will put a lighter 60cc electric setup on 12S for massive power and beat the hell out of it.

I already have all the hardware for the upgrades, just had to order a CF LG and 6S packs since I only have 7S packs which I use on the 14S setups for the 91-92'' birds.
The plan now is to have a light setup for 87-89'' planes.

I had my canopy come off in flight also. pretty frustrated, but otherwise alright. I consider this my "beater" airplane.
