Do any of you guys paint spinners? I need to have one painted but haven’t found anybody that does that. I need something like the one pictured.

Well, if i had to do it myself, here's how I would do it.

1- Prime the spinner (use etching primer if it is an aluminum spinner)

2- Paint the whole spinner with the silver paint

3 Mask off the separation lines and tip with flexible auto stripe masking tape.

4- Either spray the entire spinner with clear or silver to prevent paint creep under the tape.or go over the edges of the tape with a small brush.

4 Mask off the yellow areas.

5 Spray the blue.

6- Unmask the yellow areas, mask the blue areas and spray the yellow.

Unmask it all and see how badly you have done.

Curious how others would do it.

PS: Measure the circumference of the spinner at the rear edge and divide by the number of segments to mark the beginning of the dividing lines.

Also, you can place the spinner on its back on a flat surface and rotate it against a pencil on a adjustable height
stand to mark the circumference lines.

I used to do painting and finishing for other people but it nearly ruined the hobby for me. I've done a couple of checkerboards; never on a spinner. that one doesn't look too awful hard.

Agree on sealing the tape edges. I use a tiny little Iwata to clear coat the tape edges. Just a hint of clear on the tape lines are enough.

If you still desire a painted spinner then do a search on here for a guy whose screen name is overspray. He has done some killer work.

I've painted about a dozen or so checkered spinners and props for my planes, Allot of work and not something you want to do as a first spinner custom job. (unless you have lots of acetone).If its something you love to do, go for it. I've been asked what I'd charge to do a couple up. Its just to time consuming, Most people won't pay for the time it takes. And for a checkered spinner theirs math involved to get it right.
Go for the one Extreme flight sells. Not trying to put you off, but it is allot of work.
