The baffles stay on the COWL, not the engine. The craft foam will melt where it touches the engine.

Don't over think it. The idea is to direct the incoming air over the "cooling fins" on the motor. That heated air then has to leave (ie. bigger outlet than inlet). If the hot air gets trapped in the cowling, it is a bigger problem than you started with.

Im trying to baffle my skywing 91 ars300. With gp76.
I have some 3d printed ones that dont quite fit and was trying to make craft foam but the issue i have is i cant get the cowl on with the baffles mounted because they hit the front of the exhaust cans. I was considering using the method of building a baffle box the stays on the motor when the cowl is removed but not sure if craft foam will withstand that.
Post #63, My foam baffles with the ARS300 91" GP76. . . Not sure what issue you're running into? The right cylinder inboard wall is close tolerance against the stock muff when putting the cowl on, you may have to allow it to bend a bit - but it works.

Also a few pics of some air dams

nice, I cannot imagine designing a set of baffles without having both the engine and the airframe to observe myself. Not sure how RC3DPrint does it accurately.

So whats the generally successful way to attach foam baffles the peices to each other and the assembly to the cowl?
Ive seen it said to use epoxy, ca, rtv, hot glue?
Hot glue seems like not a good idea as it will melt if it gets good and hot under there.

For the craft foam/darice CA works great. Attaches to the cowl easily and if you need to speed it up spray some accelerator on it. I like using the craft foam cause it’s flexible and it glues to itself (stiffeners) really well, can’t say enough good things about it.

I used hot glue almost exclusively for baffles. No issues with the glue at all. Engine range DA120,DLE120,DA150/170 DLE222.

I've been using Medium CA and accelerator when needed.
