digital throttle servo?

i just finished setting up an edge 540 and i have a digital and a standard servo left to choose from for my throttle. Is it ok to use the digital or will it drain power trying to center itself? Will it burn itself out? im under the impression that digitals are always fighting to center themselves i could be wrong.any thoughts?

Nothing wrong with it. I use digitals on all my gassers.......mainly I like the the response time of them. Yes its overkill, but so is the 157cc I'm running

Do it, digitle servo has a very quick response. and gassers like it especially if you have DA.

I have used an 8611 on throttle for the past year and like it. If you are worried about it trying to center. Just take the spring off the throttle lever.

Re: digital throttle servo?

I'm sticking my neck out here, but you can get the same speed response from a good non digital servo., you don't need the holding power of digital, and analogue servos will center just as good as digitals as long as its not one of those $5.00/doz servos.

Also, centering is a non issue on throttle, you just want it go back where it should be.

But if you have a digital handy and you would have to go out and buy a good analogue servo, no worries go with the digital.

Re: digital throttle servo?

I have been told that by being directly connected to the engine that anaolog is the way to go. The excessive vibrations from the motor are read as inputs to the servo and therefore it is working overtime trying to center from the second you start the engine until it is shutoff. I do know several guys that use digitals on throttle without any issues, but for me it is a high quality analog sevo. I am sure either will be just fine..

I believe this is a personal preference. I for one use a digital servo on throttle. I also use a non-metallic connection (push rod) between the motor and the servo. I have walked up and down the line at various IMAC contests and looked at set-ups and more than not, you see digitals being used for throttle.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CENTER ON A THROTTLE SERVO.YOU JUST WANT IT TO RETURN TO THE SAME IDLE SETTING EVERY TIME USE IT

I use a Spektrum DS821 and a 4-40 Goldenrod. Excellent response and flexibility.

if the standard servo is coreless and the same speed it doesnt matter witch you use. If the analog servo is one with the 3 or 5 pole motor scrap it and use the digi if its coreless.
