What type of setup have you seen on the rudder of those slicks.
Seiko driver????
No....... No Seiko's. Big, burly, bulky, but monster torque on 3S LiPo. But you have to run a battery alone just for the servo. Guys are running 3 servos in pull pull. Anything over 300 oz would suffice quite well. I did a Seiko on a Comp ARF MX2 for my buddy Terry Hahn. I machined out the mid case and lower case to allow airflow thru. With Seiko's, like with anything DC, more voltage, more current, more heat. Milling out the case allowed the servo to operate cooler, and keep the rudder centered better.

I like to use as minimal servos as possible. I'm on a Savox kick now. Their brushless servos are really good (444 oz at .12 on 7.4V) They have a 1230 Coreless digi 500 oz at .16 on 6V. Not too bad, but speed is a touch slow for my likings.

My new to me OMP Yak 55M has all JR 8711HV's with a 9411 on throttle with a CC BEC regulator inline set at 6.1V. Looks like it will come in at 25.5-26#. BME 116 Extreme on mufflers, Falcon 28x9.5 CF prop.

My Comp ARF MX2 has 2270 Savox's all around, and will have a 1257 Speed servo on throttle this winter. I pulled the 8711HV's out and installed the Savox. I do not notice any huge difference between the 2 servos, except for a heavier wallet in the end. 38# 3W 150 QS on mufflers, Falcon 30x12 wood or Falcon 31x10W CF props.

My Dalton 300 42% will get 8911HV's, and a fresh coat of paint this winter. I had 8711 and 8611a's all on HV. I sold the 8711's to a friend, and bought me those 8911's. 38.4# 3W 157 AIS series on mufflers, Falcon 30x12 wood or 31x10W props.

My Carden 35% 330S (cover model Model Aviation 10/09) has all 8611a's and a Hitec 7990 on rudder. I think she has a death wish...... So, she is sitting in retirement. I won't ever get rid of that airplane. Too much sentimental value to it. 28.4# with BME 116 Extreme on mufflers. Currently will go back with the 3W 106 on mufflers Falcon 27x11 or 28x9.5 CF props.

Then OMP has contacted me into implimenting a couple of changes to the NEW Extra 330SC that is coming out. I think John is looking at having a choice of an SC or a LX model, plus a couple of other small changes which I can't disclose at this time. So, I'll have one of the new airplanes, in which I will add 1 change to, but not the others, and give it my custom covering scheme. Busy winter, yes it is, already!!

I think my OMP SC will get the 3W 106, Savox 2270's, Falcon 27x11 or 28x9.5 prop. Going to shoot for 27# on that airframe.

Questions................. Just ask!!!

I have not seen pics of the new SC. Once I get one in my grubby little hands, I'll be sure to post them.

Differences in the 87/8911 hv's????

8711HV- 200.00, 480 oz torque, full aluminum case
8911HV- 150.00, 470 oz torque, only mid case is aluminum

I can't tell any difference in flying them.

If you are in the market for new JR servos, I would get the the 8911's. Save $50/servo.

The scheme on the Yak is a scale one.

Depends on what your motor weights. Twins including the fox 200 should normaly be pull pull. That's what I have on the Kroma 180. The DA 200 they use push pull.

I know. He talked with me about it in Troy, last month. Always looking for new places to fly. Sounds like I have a new place to go to next year.
