Re: Show us your trailer setup pictures

sorry Roger Russell, I missed the PS part of your post

Ya what he said (ddierking)

There is also a private grass air strip out side of town, i have been told that anyone that wants to fly can come on out, as long as he is not using it for his power shoot or his real plane. I have not been brave enough to go out and fly on someone elses property.

Moose,
I have a 5'x10' Challenger by Homesteader. The weight empty is 980 pounds. I can pull it with my Jeep Grand Cherokee that has a 4.0L inline six cylinder. The Jeep still gets pretty good gas mileage. Just my two cents. I'll try to post some pics tonight.

Re: Show us your trailer setup pictures

Here's a pic of mine. Started building it from scratch over the winter. Got the lower frame done, and then i took a break from it (had too many other things to do). i just got done painting it today and over the next few days i hope to have a place to mount a toolbox, gascan, tools to change a tire and a place to put my wingbag. She's 5x11 and 4 feet high...just big enough to fit a 40% and then some, but it's gonna be used to haul everythign and anything...i.e snowmobile, 4 wheeler, couch, lawnmower, etc. It still needs a few mods but it's a good start. Gonna make some custom super beefy hinges as the ones in it now won't hold up. I think i'm gonna wire it with 2 lights on the roof, a 12V outlet and a 120V outlet at the back end. Should haul ok behind my car..hoping to get a bigger car or a small SUV in the somewhat near future though. It was my first time doing any kind of metal fab...made alot of mistakes, but it was a really good learning experience.

xtra330 it is home made 6x12 and the sheeting is 6mm fibreglass
the roll out rack holds 3 planes, and all the fuel and fields boxes.

a huge thank you to my mate mick (rcdart) or this projest would still be a frame collecting dust.

regards rod

Re: Show us your trailer setup pictures

Thats just insane. I'd hate it if you pass an 18 wheeler and big ol rock flies up and takes out the whole plane instead of the windshield of the car. That would be my luck if I did that.

6 x 10 w/ side door: $2,500.00 at the local Home Depot.

2x4 framed platform 4 feet deep x width of trailer. Aluminum C channel to guide taiwheels in. Loading a plane is a 1 person job. C channel on floor is elevated by nylon washers/spacers to allow velcro straps to pass under them...between the aluminum and the floor. Makes tying-down tailwheels a breeze. Could hold 2 40% planes w/o removing stabs. Wooden "racks" on each side of platform hold wing bags. Toolbox and crates are screwed to the floor. Fire extinguisher on inside of side door.

Mine's set up for 1 40%, 1 33-35%, and one 50-75cc size plane plus gear.

Next projects include Solar charger for the BIG ATV battery which lives in the trailer and convenient storage for xmitter cases and other misc. stuff.

Pics should answer questions...PM me for any details.

Robert
