This one too. Basically an Akro, but I personally would like to see someone do the early bubble canopy version.

A traditional Laser 200 is on the short list for our next Aerobatic design. I’ll probably avoid the Shark, last time we looked at doing one there was some issues getting the approval to do it.

This observation led me to try to improve things on my own, will we be leaps and bounds above the competition? In most cases no, in some I feel like we will be. As your post stated, competition is good for any market.

My goal with Leading Edge R/C is to develop a product with a loyal following, just as you are loyal to the manufacture you currently purchase from. Brand loyalty is what drives this hobby to be better, on both the manufacturing and consumer side and I don't want to see that change.

Thanks for the response. Looking forward to seeing your offerings.

I also look forward to seeing some new blood in the market, especially if there is going to be something different. There is nothing wrong with an Extra, Edge, Laser, or Yak. But the few distributors that are left are still supporting the same basic airframe they started with.

So, yes Mark, bring the market some new options.

Great to hear you will bring some sport and scale planes to the market. I know I am a bit of a lone voice on FG, but I will throw in my suggestion for a good quality airframe for persons wanting to transition into low/shoulder wing giant scale but either not interested, or not ready, for 3D.

Something in the 30-50cc range with a thick symmetrical airfoil, constant chord wing, capable of some mild scale aerobatics, but pretty mild stall characteristics. There are couple of RVs in the market today, but they have a lot of room for improvement and long term availability. Build that brand loyalty from their first giant scale plane.

I am so looking forward to some new ideas in our industry. It seems like everyone has just gone bigger and bigger without really looking at how the planes actually look. It all was about light weight and huge wings. IMO the planes got uglier and uglier. Wooooooo Hooooooo way to go Mark and you know I can hardly wait till you get back and we can fly those new planes. Super excited to have some fresh blood and ideas back in the business.

Brian

+1. But my first giant scale was the yellow 540. Would love to see something similar. I’m just partial to a big yellow Edge. Nostalgic I guess.

The Freestyle 260 30cc was my first gasser and a rugged yet lightweight plane. I can’t wait to see what you’ll bring to the market maybe in the good ol’ QB fashion, with more advanced materials! And maybe another true 50-60cc plane in the 16-17lb category (the AW Extra 300 was an absolutely gorgeous plane, hint hint, wink wink) as for scale, the P-51 and the Bravata were lookers too!

Congrats Mark!! Keep us posted here!!

Seeing a new company and new plane come together from start to finish is going to be awesome. Can't wait to see the first pictures. This is good to let people know what all is involved in developing a new plane. Thanks for sharing your dream.
