DLE-170 sucks! Back to DA-170

I would just like to say that my first (2) DLE-170's will also be my last. This engine sucks and has carb issues, spark plug issues, and cheap muffler issues. Not to mention it doesn't run properly no matter how you tune it.

This is really surprising considering how well the DLE-111 runs So for all those looking for a 170 motor, I say scratch the DLE-170 off of your list, until they come out with v2 or v3 version. If you don't you'll have all sorts of tuning issues, dead sticks, engine running erratically, and just a bad time overall.

BTW this is after having 2 DLE-170's and fighting with the hobby services to replace the first engine, which they reluctantly did considering it had been at their support center for 5 weeks without any resolution.

WELL Lo and behold the new engine has the EXACT SAME PROBLEMS as the first one! Leaky carb, erratic running, and the muffler will most probably break just like the last one.

I'm taking the DLE-170 off my raven and going with a DA-170 like I should have from the beginningk, .

I dont' know how to deal with rotary valves, neither does at anyone at my local field, zdz seems nice but with DA at least you know for sure if you have problems they WILL fix it.

Im not a fan boy. i have (3) DA-150's now. just got rid of a ZDZ-160 super. there is nothing you need to mess with on the rotary valve, and these things are absolute beasts. Just to humor me, go to the ZDZ-180 thread and check out the video of the red 43% carden pulling out of a hover. check the throttle response. That thing is ballistic. They are very reliable as well. Engine service is available through TBM, and i have heard a few whispers about issues but, IMHO its worth checking out.

Being how simple these engines are, you don't think the operator had anything to do with the way it ran ? Send it to me I'll fix it.

Similar BS at one of the fields I frequent. Planes are too big, 3D's gonna kill somebody. Blah blah blah...

Ya know? You may be on to something here...
Every few months, a group of hard core 3D'ers need to meet at a different (Non-3D friendly) field for some fun...
