I think most use the Krylon Short Cuts. It's small cans of paint and I've used it on other foamies. Now, I like to use Sharpiecoat (it's just a colored sharpie pen).

Re: DW Foamies Poll

I got to fly the skua today and its AWESOME! Hovers are rock solid, rolling harriers are smooth as butter, it just looks graceful in the air. In a harrier, you can walk faster than it is flying. Knife edge with almost no rudder as well. The only negative i could find is that with all the side area, the wind seems to want to knock it left and right when you fly crosswind. Its very slight and totally manageable, just a different feeling for me i guess since I've never flown a bipe. All in all i couldn't be happier, except about the tropical storm thats ruining my weekend of flying

Re: DW Foamies Poll

Well I just got the 38 inch Yak with motor, esc, LiPo, and a bunch of stuff to build it from Mike and will be starting on it soon. I am cursed with good flying weather today so needless to say that is what I'm doing in a few minutes. I must say that dealing with Mike has been a pleasure and he has gone way beyound my expectations to help me get my first foamy on the road. He even threw in a balance plug for my BC6. I'm thinking about using my canopy glue to put this thing together because it stays flexable. It takes a while to set up but heck I'm retired and not in a big hurry. He sent me foam safe CA and kicker but as this is my first foamy and I'm not that good with CA I thought the extra time would be to my advantage. The instructions are pretty clear but I think I'll look for a foamy build thread to help me when it comes to hinging with this tape, and gear setup. If anyone knows of one a link would sure help. Anyway off to the field......................

I don't know if there are any DW build threads, maybe someone else knows of one, but here are some things that might help you out.

Thanks, I remembered seeing that on the DW site while I was out flying yesterday. Looks like another perfect flying day today so the Yak will have to wait again.

they usually wobble a bit, as long as it doesn't start doing anything violent you will be fine.

Wobbley adaptor

Make sure that you use two of those "O" ring rubbers, if one breaks you still have a backup and it also helps it from flopping around.

I have 13 flights on my 55.5 inch BAF Yak. Damn, this is the best foamy I have ever flown. What pleasure to fly such a well behaved airplane. Makes this rookie 3D pilot look good. Solid in every aspect. No coupling to speak on KE, Flat Turns etc. I love my BAF!

My setup:
AXI 2820/12
APC 15x6E
Turnigy 60A ESC
Burg 7P Rx
TP Exteme V2 3S1P 2200 mAH
Impulse 3S1P 3200 mAH Lipos
HS-81MG all around.
38 ozs with the TP2200 on board. 41 ozs with the 3200 mAH.

Making 582 Watts @ 55.5 Amps, verticle is awesome. 10-12 minutes on the 3200 mAH. Solid bird without ANY bad habits!

Those zippy lipos are going to add quite a bit of weight onto the airframe. I was using them untill I switched to TP 1320 mah lipos. Much better performance, and overall a lot more fun. But at leats your wheels will match the plane

Also, just put a z-bend into both ends of a wire that's about 5" long. Makes the linkages simple and easy.

Not to be too ignorant, but are you talking about Velcro when you ask about "dual lock"?

If so, it's over in the sewing section which IIRC is usually right next to the "hobby section" and I'm talking lady's craft type hobbies, not ours....

It's also a great place to pick up T-pins, X-acto stuff and those small plastic zip type bags I use for miscellaneous parts all the time.
