First of all, great job Sandman! Wow. Does the insulation help keep moisture and condensation down? I was going to do the epoxy for the floor as my friend Ken Crane had done it. But I didn't think about insulation.

I'm not sure if it does. I live in a very dry climate. Today I walked outside and found dew on my truck and thought it was the end of the world. I'm sure it would help.

I suspect I will end up with a model very similar to Damon's. Not looking for a cadillac here, just a middle of the road, decent quality trailer. Oh, and I believe I would prefer one with smooth sides (minimum screws or rivets).

Hey Phil,
Congrats! You will love it.
I paid $3,400 for mine Toby my friend is getting one from RJ Trailer in Dallas for $3,300 I also got a quote from Trailer country in Fl for $3,300ish.

Hope this helps

Sandman. Looking great.

Can't wait to see the cabinets. Still on the fence for what to do cabinet wise for mine.

Thanks.
I understand some have rivets/screws on the sides, and some do not. Can you elaborate on these differences and why one might be more or less desirable?

Thanks, its been a labor of love so far the last two weeks. Mostly physical labor up to this point. Now I really have to have my plan laid out as to where all the "stuff" goes before I start randomly throwing things in. I've made an electrical plan, and I'm working on several different layouts based on my priorities:

1) 700-class E-Heli transport and safe big battery charging

2) Ability to carry 1 plane up to 1/4 scale if needed

3) Safe transport for smaller fragile planes like foamies if needed

4) Small fridge, microwave, A/C, and big enough spot to lay out an air mattress during an overnight event

5) Carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. Extinguisher.

6) Ability to run from hard power, generator, or deep cycle batteries.

7) Lighting, audio/video

Progress is probably going to slow a bit while family comes for Christmas and as the price of the needed new components increases.

Smooth side trailers are going to be more weathertight. No side screws to tighten over time. Expansion and contraction with hot and cold is less evident. Screw-side trailers will bulge slightly between the screws. They are generally higher priced. If you end up with screws, look for the tightest spacing between screws you can find. Generally you'll see 8", mine is 4" spacing and I'm glad. Oh, and if you want a giant "steal my stuff" fancy vinyl sticker on the side, you'll want a smooth side.

Lol... "Steal my stuff". Funny but true I suppose. Never really thought of it. Thanks for the info. When time is near, I'll re-read this entire thread and pick what applies best to my situation. I've pretty much got the basic bare trailer nailed down to 7x12' low profile V nose, with torsion suspension, a door on each side and barn doors.

I also got all my specs typed up. Guess sometime in Jan/Feb I'll put out for bids and see what happens. I understand there are lots of manufacturers in GA so I'll start there since it's pretty close.

AWESOME.

I totally understand about the slowed down progress. Just keep us updated.

All the trailers I have had had rivets on them. Never had an issue with it. I think if you want a seamless trailer you will jump up in price considerably.
Here are 2 pics of my last trailer and my current trailer

jbrown, nice I like it. I like how you continued the checkers to the baseboard under the shelves, nice touch. I also like the convertible heli shelf.
