I have the flowmaster fuel tank from extreme flight, and a short piece of brass tubing came along. Do I put this in the clunk line, or leave the line like it is with no tubing?

From the EF website: "an additional length of brass tubing and fuel line clips are included for those that want a more rigid fuel pick up line. "

So you can... or not...really up to you.. I have never done this.. while others will swear by it....

Ok thanks, I did some research and ended up just doing the straw trick. Less points of failure, and easier!

Yeah it seems to work anyway. So she is finally ready to go, just working on the engine baffling, and some minor kinks yet. Thanks again for all the help from you guys, tomorrow I’ll probably run the engine for the first time, hopefully it’ll go well for this gasser newbie. Maiden coming soon after!

BTW, do not forget open the belly air vents, due to the hot/ humid weather here in Panama I had to open the belly vents and do a louvers in the cowl, so that allow the DA 70 run pretty well

Thanks Nat, I’m in Ohio, ours summers aren’t too bad, but I still opened up all of them except the furthest back air exit hatch/hole. Definitely want to do everything in my power to avoid a deadstick

If I could give some unsolicited advice? If this is your first gasser have someone you trust look it over at the field. It is amazing what a fresh pair of eyes will catch.

Yes, absolutely. I’ve had a lot of help from the guys at the local field, I’ll be taking it there, and making sure they look over it before I fly. I’d hate to lose it due to a bonehead rookie mistake from me

DA70 choke

I just finished a build on this 91 inch laser with a DA70. The problem I’m running into when I start the engine the choke will fall down when the engine is running to half close , Is it away to stop this from happening? This is my first twin cylinder engine.

Thanks

the choke should have a noticeable click that holds in place when it is closed or open. if the butterfly can freely move, that's a problem you will need to discuss with DA. if memory serves me right, the 70 carb has two steps instead of the usual one so make sure you closing and opening it fully.

FWIW, i would not place the satellite on top of the fuel tank. I would secure it to the fuse and keep the satellite wires away from anything that could put them under tension.

good luck with the maiden!
