Help!
AS3X Setup Wing Type and Port Assignment Issue
Another one of my noob questions. I am using the AS3X app to setup a AR9350T. I have watched all of the Spektrum videos and it seems generally straightforward. But I am having a possible issue with default port assignments in the transmitter vs the app.
To start, I first went into the tx and created a new model, named it, set the wing type to 2-Ail/2-Flap, and the tail type to 1-Rud/2-Elev. Next I opened the app, created a new model, named it, and set the wing type and tail type to match the transmitter. Then I bound the receiver to the tx model. The Spektrum videos say it is best to use the default port assignments from the app and not to change them. But when I look at the default port assignments in the app vs the default assignments in the tx they don't match. A couple of the default port assignments in the tx are different than what the app picks in the rx. Should these default port assignments automatically match or are is it expected that you have make changes to the tx port assignment setup to make it match what the receiver says to use? Any help would really be appreciated. |

You don't do both
Set it up in one or the other, then follow the assignments. |

we can mix both with one receiver?

I understand you can do that, but still leaves the question of whether or not that is how it is expected to work or if it is expected that they would automatically match. I am trying to make sure things are working properly before changing anything. |

Follow what the app tells you to do regarding setting up your transmitter.

If you want to use AS3X set it up in the RX If you don't then clear out the RX settings and use the transmitter. |

Memo,
While I may be a noob at setting up the AS3X app, I have flown RC off and on for 30 years without gyros. After flying several AS3X-equipped models, I like it. It's easy to turn off if I don't want to use it. Plus it's new technology to learn. I'm setting up another plane with the Aura 8 system, and another one with Powerbox's system. Not only will I be able to make fully informed decisions for my future planes, but I will also be able to help others in my club no matter which they choose. So there is no desire, or need, to bypass the AS3X system. Baracuda, an Fenton, Finally got home in time today to talk with Horizon tech support and got to discuss several related questions from step one. For me, the key was to set the Tx wing type to whatever the app says to use, whether it matches the AS3X app wing type setting or not (which in my case it does not). Never saw that explicitly explained in any of their documentation or videos. Next key is to ignore the Tx port assignment settings and don't make any changes there. Instead either use what the app picks (recommended), or make port assignment changes in the Rx only. Either way, the app has to control the port assignments. The defaults shown in the Tx will rarely match the Rx. That's ok, the Rx handles any cross mapping internally. The AS3X setup videos briefly mentions that, but nothing says to ignore the Tx screens. Basically, just a more detailed explanation of what you posted. Thanks for the help. Fenton, I used to line in Florissant. I flew at the McDonnell Douglas employee field out in St Charles. Where do you fly at? |
