The only glitch, the ID of the neck of a standard tank is 17mm, where the Fiji bottle is 21.5mm

Has anyone had experience with this setup, and what works for a "stopper" solution that is available in (or to) Oz?

Hi Michael,
Where can we find a Fiji water bottle in Sydney?

I am surprized you said that. Soda bottles are defenetly the way to go. I would never use a regular tank. Try it and, you will understand.

Many thanks, I'll check it out this week. Looking for 100cc and 50 - 60cc sizes.

it does not need to be a fuji bottle, but you can buy them at most super markets in oz.
Ive used these for ages with no probs. People like the fuji cos they are square and have no foam type gasket in the lid. But most bottles these days have a suitable lid.

some that i have done

Cheers

Those fittings are what i was originally thinking of. What is the large red one, Secraft?

And the small, punch through fittings? Where are they from?

Done that for much longer than six months with great results!
You do realize that those bottles are made out of polyethelene, same thing the fuel cans you buy at the servo are made out of? They even make car petrol tanks out of it now!
So many people have problems with dubro tanks splitting and this is why there are so many threads on this topic. They are heavy junk.
Oh yeah, what do they store all the various chemicals in at the stores?

I really can't remember! Sorry! I stock up with heaps of fittings!
Try the "sick of fuel tanks, how to use a soda bottle" thread. I know it's long though!

Take a look at your dubro tank with or without fuel in it while it is in your plane and let me know if you can see if your fuel pick up line is still on, or curled up in the front of the tank

Cheers,

Jeff

! thing i have found with this hobby is that trying to save money and cutting corners by not using something already produced for model aircraft or buying cheap servos etc ends up costing alot more in the long run so if i don't show my enthusiasm that's why.
but hey i hope it works out for you guys.
regards Bill

I agree with you 110%. I am the most skeptical when it comes to trying out new things in this hobby. Anyone that knows me will agree. The water bottle gas tank won me over. Try it and, you will understand. That's all I have to say.

You're right, but you missed the point of my original question. It was about a source of the cap and other parts that I'd seen people using that I could get locally in Australia. It warranted a separate question in the Australian forum.

Michael.
