50th Anniversary KW Flying Dutchmen Scale Rally - Sept Sept 7/8, 2019

The KW Flying Dutchmen are proud to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our annual Scale Rally on Sept. 7th and 8th, 2019.

As part of the celebration, all proceeds from the admission are being donated to Kidsability (www.kidsability.ca), a recognized leader in Waterloo Region and Guelph-Wellington for empowering children and youth with a wide range of complex special needs to realize their full potential

This air show features over 300 aircraft on static display, most of which will be flown over the two-day event. From high-speed turbine jets, to old-time bi-planes this show features a bevy of interesting aircraft. Pilots from as far away as Alberta, Canada and California, USA have attended our Scale Rally. There are R/C vendors on site, as well as food and beverage vendors. Raffles are also held on both Saturday and Sunday.

Friday night we welcome the pilots with a corn roast in the evening. Flying begins at 9 a.m. each day, after the pilots meeting, and continues until 4 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday. There is also an "Air Show" at 1:00 p.m. on both both days featuring aircraft from various eras, unique planes, helicopters, multi-engine aircraft and jets.

Admission is $7 per day, kids under 12 years $1 per day, NO charge for registered pilots or campers.

This is strictly a Scale and Stand-Off Scale event. MAAC or AMA membership is required to fly. Muffler/FAI sound level rules will be enforced. All 72 MHz radio transmitters must be impounded (no impound for 2.4 GHz).

Electric power for charging batteries onsite is limited. There are only a few campsites that have power available. Power at the KWFD clubhouse is used mainly for PA system and equipment required to operate the rally, and is not available after hours as all buildings are locked at night. It is advisable to bring your own power source or ensure that your batteries are fully charged before attending.

There are about 40 campsites (some hook-ups) available anytime the week before the Rally for $10.00 a night ($15 with hydro). As well, there are many area hotels/motels and camping facilities in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. Food is available on-site throughout the weekend.
