Hello all,
In the wake of the Corona Virus, I'm still planning to hold the Weaver Field IMAC contest this year with social distancing protocols in place. More on this later. I know people come to eat the food and fly with friends. With that being said, this years event will be scaled back. There will only be two meals served, dinner Saturday night and lunch on Sunday. The menu for Saturday night dinner: Taco Night, compete with corn or flour tortillas, beans, Mexican rice, and all the fixin's, including juac, pico, salsa and whatever I might of forgot related to a Mexican meal and dessert (TBA) Lunch on Sunday: Burgers, Brats & various sausages along with a pasta salad, chips and all the fixin's. These will not be cooked via a propane torch. ..LOL The cooks will make your dinner or lunch plate and strict safety measures in place. You will be able to get seconds (more food if you're still hungry) once everyone has had a meal, and we'll make the plate once again, just let us know what you want on it. Please let me know if you are attending and how many will be needing food in your party for each meal. If you don't let me know (RSVP) you may not get a meal. Prepare for a hot day as the temps are anywhere between 85-105 degrees during those days as of now. Please bring your own drinks, I'm not going to provide this year due to the virus. I can be reached at gvasquez@othelloschools.org Hope to see you there (Aug 1 -2, 2020) |

Hey all,
I really need to know who will be attending the contest in August, because if there are not enough participants I may have to cancel the contest. As of now there are 7 registered pilots. If i do cancel the contest portion we will still have the field reserved so we can at least fly without others, unless we allow it. Those who registered on the IMAC site, please confirm via an email to me as most don't delete a registration if not coming. Please be considerate, events take loads of effort to put on and I don't wanna do a contest for 7 people, that is not worth the time and driving expenses fro some. I really need to hear from those of you who are coming and which meals you might like to eat with us as well as the number of meals (number of people eating and which meals) this is important! Otherwise as I previously stated, there might not be food if you choose to eat with us. So far, I have Jeff B +1 for dinner Sat. and lunch Sun and I have Rick C fro both meals too. Please reply and let me know, you can email me at: gvasquez@othelloschools.org Thanks, G |

Good luck to everyone this weekend in Canada. I hope that the weather is better this time around so that we can get a contest in the books. If it is your first IMAC contest relax and don't the nerves get the best of you and you will do just fine. Just have fun. I wish I was there with all of you.

1st Valley of Hope IMAC
The first ever IMAC contest at the beautiful Valley of Hope field in Raven Alberta is in the books! We had great weather (for once!) but just to be sure we flew two known rounds and the unknown on Saturday and the weather held for another known round on Sunday. 10 minutes after the awards were presented the skies opened up with lightning, rain and hail! We had 13 pilots flying with 4 Basic, 5 Sportsman, only 1 Intermediate and 3 Advanced. Results will be posted on the IMAC site shortly.
You can see the screen that was set up between the judge and scribe as bit of COVID 19 protection for two people that have to communicate at less than mandated social distance Michael, we wish you could have joined us as well! |

Not a fun drive home! We passed through 3 hailstorms in the hour and a half drive home. Torrential rain but thankfully only pea sized hail.

One final picture. This is the north half of the runway! It is a private full scale airstrip and the owner flies RC models as well!
