Site Issues Update

Here's a message from Vertical Scope about the Site Issues of the past few weeks. I'm hopeful this new action will resolve it.

"Hello All:

As we work to improve user experience and provide safer, more secure communities, we still have to balance our members telling us "I want to browse the site faster! But make sure I'm safe while I do that." Ok, you've got it! That is important to us too, so, starting the week of March 18th, we will be implementing Cloudflare.

Cloudflare is a service that sits between the member and the forum host provider as an extra layer of security. This helps prevent scammers, spammers, bots, hackers, and other bad guys from accessing our network and communities. On top of that, it increases site performance by providing 'caches' (or replicated copies) of websites, allowing members to access information faster since it is closers. This also spreads out traffic, so it's not all focused on one place. Caching is used in many areas of the internet world - this is just one example of how it can be used very effectively to improve a member's browsing experience.

Along with faster browsing, Cloudflare also serves as a 'bouncer', looking for suspicious activity, comparing any actions to a set of rules to decide whether to allow or block that activity. This allows us one more avenue to proactively prevent those bots, hackers, scammers, and other bad guys from negatively affecting a community or the infrastructure that supports that community.

We've used our time testing to find the best balance between access and security and will continue to monitor and adjust as necessary to fine tune as we roll out this beneficial service to the community.

While downtime should be minimal, you might experience some brief outages or slow loading times during the process as we migrate the community to this service. Once in place, please report any issues in this thread and we will address them.

Thank you

Suggest you get rid of this feature and see if it fixes the annoying repeated emails to users telling us we have PMs that don't exist from previous PMs. In other words, old PMs we received days/weeks/months ago are showing up again as new PMs.

That's not from the Cloudflare switch. Notification emails were broken for awhile. Now that it is fixed, the server is sending out all the past notifications. It should catch up and be back to normal.
