I own an AJ Ars 35% and Pilot 100cc Lazer and several 330s. Which one do I like better? Depends on what day it is. Which brand would I pick over the other? Depends on cost, convenience, and what day it is. There really are no complaints other than lifting Ultracoat and you’re stuck with that regardless so... This choice is really dependent on looks and possibly weight as both are excellent manufactures.

Let me throw in a new underdog to the game.

SkyWing.

I'd pick AJ or SkyWing over Pilot. Thats my opinion.

I agree. They charged me $80 to ship the “free” wood and they left out some pieces. Pretty sure the shipping charges weren’t over $25 for the size box they used.

On the main topic.....If I were to buy another ARF I would like to try AJ.

The farther I get into my first Pilot build (73" Pitts) the more I question some of their design decisions.

  • Canister tunnel is at least 5 inches too short to fit any of the usual KS/MTW cans
  • Hardware is extensive but most of it seems questionable so I'm substituting for DuBro
  • The G10 control horns are all too large (obviously repurposed from a larger deigns) so the the geometry is all offset
  • Wheel pants are way overbuilt and heavy (nearly 4oz each on a 50/70cc size aircraft??!!!)
They do provide a lot more included hardware then some other brands and I still think they have the best color schemes... but I'd gladly give up some of that hardware for a little better quality construction.

I think Pilots offerings are all pretty great, But the Pitts does seam to be a bit of Let down,
Pretty unscale - Does not Look anything like a Proper Challenger II or III.

And there has been a host of drammas with it. Which is a shame.Perhaps the Larger Pitts models will be better / or they will address these issues. Seams the rushed this model.

That Being said i have the 73% Edge 540 and the 36% Sbach, and they are built beautifully and have great paint and covering, The Sbach came with all the later hardware like clear fuel tank,s and all stainless screws etc, so that was nice.
