So , stay within the 10% rule and raise the wings just a bit for more axial rolls and all that or stay true to scale and keep them low? I'd vote for raising them a tad..

Kevin, what is a SCAT event, I've found some postings of them but no explanation as to what the program is. (And NO I'm not going there with the " other " definition of scat. Lol .. Sickos. ) I've seen the southern california aerobatic team was It another form of IMAC ? And I dig the plane in the pic..it's even in the pepsi sky dancer scheme !

For the Chipmunk, my vote would be to stay as scale as possible; low wing, even keep the original dihedral.

The SCAT series was basically the same thing as IMAC. It was basically a butting of heads between some members of IMAC so some guys in California started there own thing for a while. The sequences were pretty much the same.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be the "SCAT" champion. WOuld be hard to explain to non-IMAC types.

scat - there were some things we wanted to do to which the imac leadership strongly objected - like intermediate. the sponsors didn't care so we continued to follow the ama sa rules, with some tweaking, and wrote our own sequences. scat existed for five years, headed originally by me, and then bill malvey, known around here as judge. al (jtec) was instrumental in introducing me to some of our sponsors.

at the time the acronym was coined, I was unaware of the biological meaning. oops.

and a big chipmunk? I'm in line......

oh, and the so called scat champion walked away with a jr 10x.

How about using durant direct drive system to keep the scale outline absolute. Serious wow factor.

Anybody have a set of plans for a da test stand handy? I can make one but much easier to go with something already laid out or a source that sells them. Thanks.

Brian,

Why a test stand? For break in or evaluation. We have one but not for breaking in engines. That we do in the plane while flying

Evaluation mostly, different props and testing after carb rebuilds, maybe for testing out an exhaust system I'm dreaming up. like to keep a shelved engine good by running now and again. One of those is the correct answer wink wink
