Museum Quality Scale - Ultimate, Sukhoi, Extra or Yak54

where might I find full scale plans, manuals, and photo's of the subject planes?

I see so many Top Gun WWI, WWII and jets type planes but I would certainly take on a scale project of a more current aerobatic airplane if plans or kits were available. I especially want a tubular airframe, scale ribs, and a full interior.

That would be tricky... you buy a set of the full scale plans... they are fairly cheap at around $200-$300 a set for just plans and then you could scale them accordingly...
Graeme Mears in Canada would be one to contact as he did such an amazing super cub with wing tanks and all! He is the scale master!

I think Steve Thomas did a Top Gun Extra a couple of years ago. It started life as a PAU because of the scale outlines of the PAU. Lots of detail.

The PAU Extra is stretched, but better than most out there today.

None of the planes mentioned above are anywhere near museum scale...

I see so many Top Gun WWI, WWII and jets type planes but I would certainly take on a scale project of a more current aerobatic airplane if plans or kits were available. I especially want a tubular air frame, scale ribs, and a full interior.
The only tube frame aerobatic kits I know of that are commercially available are from Paolo Severin, and the kits are brought in by Vogelsang Aeroscale, not far from you... they are located in Chapel Hill. http://www.vogelsang-aeroscale.com/p...aerobatic.html

Other non tube frame kits that are scale, would be from Airworld... and Exclusiv Modellbau (EMHW), all brought in to the US by Vogelsang Aeroscale. http://www.vogelsang-aeroscale.com/emhwaerobatic.html

Otherwise you will have to start with full scale drawings and make everything yourself... which would be a great project.

I wanted something like you mentioned for Top Gun, so I built an EMHW 50% Challenger II... all fabric, correctly rib stitched, correct pinking... Valach 210cc 4 stroke twin, scale exhaust... fun project. Unfortunately, work schedule hasn't allowed me to make it down to Top Gun the last two years.

Extra's website has some great info. Download the manual for your preferred variant and you'll find the fuselage truss in enough detail that it should give you a start.
