I googled Kolm engines last night, and was sent to a thread on RCUniverse about the engine. I was blown away that people were BASHING this engine! Too expensive, you have to adjust the valves....? I guess it really is a site for those in the hobby who borrow servos from peoples junk piles, and still write in threads about flying figure 8's. I guess I'm different because I looked all over the net, watching every video I could find about these! I've got a one off, glass fused French Caudren race plane with an 88" WS, and I think I'm putting in a Kolm!!! The photos of the pushrods and machine work of these engines is amazing! And the sound?!?!? Forgetaboutit!!!! Who ever started this thread, thank you!

Dear Eric,
As for the Galloping Ghost, we will offer that kit in a few months, as well. But please keep in mind that this one shares the dimensions of the CARF P51 and is incredibly heavy when it comes to wingload – the Fischer is THE airframe for the Kolm inline, no doubt. Attached you will find some photos for the Fischer P51D, please contact me should you have any questions. And thank you for your kind words, the pleasure was all mine. Should you “spread the word” about Kolm and Aeroscale in general, I would highly appreciate it. Thank you and best regards, Götz Vogelsang www.teamaeroscale.com 919-533-6275 |

Brave, so the Galloping Ghost is a Fisher P-51? But modified? Or will the kit have the modified canopy? Is it the same wing span as the CARF? Is the landing gear the same? Will the kit have the trick engine mount, or us that a custom thing you guys did? Impressive plane!!! As soon as I saw the video of the Ghost, I forwarded it to my buddy who used to be an old racer who is still sitting on some crazy airframes. This is all he's been able to talk about! The thread should be called "You think the Moki 400 sounds scale? Listen to this!". If you think about the cost of a jet-turbine plane, this is close. Not everyone will have five grand to buy an engine, but there is a market out there for them!

The Fisher is 121"...bigger than a carf stang Nice size and with a 3 cylinder inline. OK, I'm in... Brave, I guess I'll be keeping you company. The road is slippery. :-0

I think a great many "anti warturd" opinions changed 180 degrees after hearing that sound. One question I have is.. what exaust system was used with that engine/P-51 |

From the video it looked like 3 straight pipes with a downward bend. I think 70 degrees is typical for those applications. YS does the same thing. Of course that's a scientific wild-ass guess.

As far as your questions: He did not know what model that the Ghost was but it wasn't a Fisher. It looked like the guy clipped the wings when he added the turtle deck which made it look more like the "B" model. Gotz also said that the plane was pretty much a beater before he moded it. I'm certain that everything on the Fisher is different than the Ghost. The landing gear on the Fisher is cast alum. so that it looks more scale. The engine will require a special mount that will be offered by Kolm. It will be constructed of soft steel instead of stainless to allow for flexing. |

Carl, what's new...... you've got to promise that this time, you keep the plane for more than a season so we can do some tandem loud and low full power fly by's!!!! Imagine two complete setup's with smoke on!! Mine will still be faster! lol..
