FG33R3, Does it still require the mods?

Getting back into the hobby and looking at the Saito FG33R3. Has Saito reworked the engine or will it still need Ray English's modifications?

Thanks

I think it does. IIRC, the first engine from Saito with Ray's mods was the 60.

Have a Saito FG84R3 and two FG60, none have Ray English mods and yet they keep on running. Just saying.

Agreed.. we have the 19cc all the way thru 90cc and none have been touched and they run great.. even the 84cc is still stock. I have heard more bad than good about Ray English!

I’m surprised to hear that about Ray. I don’t own any big Saitos so I have zero first hand experience. However I’ve never heard anything but high praise for the RE service/mods.

My 84 went to Ray right out of the box, it runs awesome, I use Sunoco 110 race gas and Amsoil Dominator at 15:1. He put a bronze bushing on the master rod and reworked the fuel distribution system, all 3 cylinders run about the same temp, turns a 24X12 around 6K, hasn't blown up yet. From what I know, the 19,33, 60 and 90 have similar mods right out of the box.

I wouldn't say I have heard bad things about Ray, I just don't think spending hundreds on his work is necessary. My 84 which doesn't have any of his mods has been running great. In my opinion his mods are overrated.
