helis and planes

Do the people who fly helis and the people who fly planes watch each other? Get along? Best buddies?

I just noticed Spencer flew helis and planes...

Usually! Most of the guy's I know fly both. Colin Bell, Andrew Jesky, Kyle Dahl, Kyle Stacy, Chris Hass, Frank Noll, Joe Smith. There is no line on friends and who flies what, and a respect for the other if anything.

haha... my heli buddies always comment when I pull out one of my gassers and comment on me "flying with the dark side" when I do. All in good fun.
But our club does have a designated heli area, so that helps a TON....
The two really aren't compatible in the same area.....

Duncan Bossion which is a helis world champion pilot is also a great planes pilot.....

I start with helis in this hobby, and now I use to fly both.... really love both... (but I hate drones and all around FPV)

My best friend is a strict heli pilot. He flys my stuff, and I fly his helis. There will always be banter between fixed and rotary winged pilots. Or, should I say...... Planks and Shanks...

Just got back from the field. I flew my 700 nitro and had a great time. Our field mixes both helis and planes in the same space. We use spotters when necessary and work to give each other the respect and room needed to fly as we choose. The club is primarily plank but all of the members have enjoyed my heli flying as it has progressed over the years. I started in planes and have drifted away from them some as my heli flying has taken prominence for me. I feel kind of bad about that as I will always love flying and watching planes. At some point I WILL get back into IMAC flying. Today I flew a fellow club members old pattern plane and had a blast with it. Even managed a dead stick touchdown right in front of myself. The heli/plane rift where is has been fostered has always been about individuals and groups who fail to respect each others choices and or airspace.
