I switched to the 3.5” Sullivan Skylites a few hundred flights ago. Couldn’t be happier and saved 1.2oz over the stock wheels.

My last set of Sullivan Skylites were so out of balance and rock hard, I threw them in the garbage.

Is anyone flying the AJ Laser 93" with the XPWR 60CC?

I have flown it with the Falcon 24x13 and 26x8, but I'm still not 100% happy with the power.

Not much of an electric power guy outside of my Pattern planes. If that motor is indeed similar to a 60cc gas, then it's too small for a 93" size model IMHO.

My 93" Laser has a DA70 twin cylinder gas and it works really well, not a lot of excess power but it fly's nice. My prop of choice is a Mej 24x10, if your electric is close on power, you're over propping it.

I answered your question on RC Groups, but I'll post it here as well in case someone is looking around and finds it.

"Just as a reference, the recommended propeller sizes for that motor are 23 x 10, 24 x 10, 24 x 12. The 2 propellers you are using are definitely over-propped for the motor, I would recommend dropping to a 24x12 at least, if not a 24x10. "

For reference, the XPWR 60CC has more vertical pull than the DA70. It's power equivalent is closer to 80CC.

If you can't get an exact duplicate for your AJ aircraft, you might try graphtechrcshop.com They have a large assortment of carbon landing gear and you might find one that fits your needs.

hello

My friend wants to install DLE85 on his aj 93"laser, has anyone used this combination?
Is any modification needed on the firewall when installing the engine ??
Any pictures maybe?

Thanks

First flight of 93" Laser yesterday - wow!!

XPWR 60, Castle 160, 6000s and a Falcon 24X10.

There was some question in this thread about the power of the XPWR 60. My experience is - plenty of power - unlimited vertical with a 24X10. Takeoff at 50%.

Regarding a DLE85 - the CG comes to mind. You could end up heavy due to added tail weight due to the light structure. Definitely would require Rudder servo(s) in tail rather than pull-pull. Would definitely be a rocket with a 85 - if that's the goal.

85 is rear carb so it may need some work to mount. Really not a great engine for that size airframe.

I like the DLE85 but not sure it would be a good engine for that airframe.

Two things, vibration will kill a plane in the 90-93" size, also the prop needed for that engine will make so much back torque that it no longer becomes fun to fly the plane. I speak from experience on both of these outcomes.
