THMX-RC 35% Extra 330Sc PRE-REVIEW Un-Boxing.

Hey guys, the composite THMX-RC 35% Extra 330Sc showed up today!
And I have to say Wow.. pretty impressed! obviously I'm packing to head off to Joe Nall so all I had time to do was to take the plane out of the crate and inspect it for any damage. (It had NONE by the way)

OK.. first impressions...

PRO's...

1) Packaging was excellent. The wood crate and the internal protecting materials were excellent. Everything arrived in perfect shape. Shipping ran $280 but after receiving the plane, it seems worth it. The plane was very well packed, and came Dayton freight and looks like it was not mistreated in any way. (UPS should take note!!)

2) The individual parts packaging was excellent. Nothing rubbed or touched and everything looks as it should.

3) Initial quality impression. Awesome. A quick look into the wings showed ample glue where it should be, the fit and finish is very nice.

4) The pictures posted of this plane made it seem small to me, but I was surprised when I opened the crate that the fuse is HUGE. The cowl will dwarf a 100 - 120cc motor.

5) The hardware looks useable, but please understand I just eyeballed the bag as I don't have time this week to go through it, but again at first glance it looks very complete.

6) The overall look of the plane is nice. Clean lines and I love this orange/Yellow scheme. I was very happy one of the Fantasy schemes did not show up as this scale scheme is awesome. Also I'm pretty sure this plane will have no issues being seen from the ground.

7) The weight of each piece seems light. I think this plane will come in around 25 lbs... but we will see.

8) The surfaces all have plenty of travel and are all pocket hinged, none of that skin hinging annoyance, so equal throws up and down should be simple and no problem.

9) Pipe tunnel built in. If hat is your thing. Me I like mufflers, but if you like pipes.. then BAM.. there ya go. Although I may try a set of Dave's Pro-flows.... Hmmmm.

Cons:

No real problems that I can see so far.

But if I had to point anything out...

1) I'd say there were a few small paint blemishes in a few of the stripes. To be visible you need to be 1 foot away to see. This is not a bother to me at all, but I do know there are some picky guys, and this may bug them. But overall the paint is very nice.

2) A quick feel of the control surfaces yielded a stab that has a .5 - 1mm wiggle. Meaning I can move the surface back and forth a bit. But this is nothing a little shim won't fix, and I'm not really worried at all.

So there it is.. I'm an actual person who actually has set hands on the new composite THMX-RC 35% Extra 330Sc and it looks great!

When I get back from Joe Nall we will do a complete build and fly thread. Not going to rush it, but it will get done in a short amount of time.

I'm going to run Futaba 9157's all the way around, with the 2" Fut aluminum arms, Life batteries (2) 3200's for rec/servo and (1) 2200 for ign. I'll be putting everything through a Smartfly EQ10 and popping a DA-100 or 120 in the snout depending on how much my wife lets me put on the CC..

OK.. back to packing for NALL! The plane is back inb the crate safe and sound!

Looks great! I can see a lot of resemblance to another company, but they look like they've beefed it up quite a bit. I like the CF ply!

Was the $280.00 shipping charge from China or from the stock that is supposed to be in L.A.?

From LA.. but like i said, it came with out issues, and the crate weighs in at 92 lbs... it's built solid.
And to be honest I'd rather pay a few bucks for freight shipping than have a composite plane kicked in the nuts repeatedly by UPS.

I have not seen anything in the way of a manual.. but it looks like every other ARF I have ever built, so I'm not sure one is needed.

BUT... that being said.. I'd like to see how they recommend mounting the cowl.
