camera on-board and hat mount

Hey everyone i did a search with not much luck looking for info on the latest and greatest small camera. kind of thinking along the lines of those new keychain cameras.

What is out there?
You has used what?
Would like a head/hat mount
and mounting for on board the airframe.

Sample video?
There are a bunch out there but not being a camera guy i have no idea what is good or wha tis bad.'

I plan to use it to video me flying with it clipped to a hat and some on board stuff too.

thanks in advance.

Oh not looking to spend a ton.

OH OH- i know nothing about go-pros accept the look big and heavy? Should i just shut up and get that because nothing else comes close?

Check out www.rclogger.com

They have a $99 mini cam that rocks.
I have one. With the wide angle lens it's awesome. Way smaller than a go-pro.

And for a hat mount check out: SUGRU. It's a moldable putty that then hardens and makes whatever you want and ends up a kind of soft but firm rubber substance.

I used a GoPro: http://fr.gopro.com/products// (you can get the website in English). Great stabilization software to handle the vibrations. Don't know what size plane you're thinking about, but my 3m Comp ARF never knew it was there. I mounted it to the gear leg using GoPro's mount. I don't know the exact weight of the camera but I would guess about 4 oz? (not really sure).

Check out video from my Comp-ARF with DA-170 (which shakes the #$%^ out of the plane):

GoPro EXTRA 300 (6 min 47 sec)

I dont see where it talks about stabilization features. Worst case vibration it will see is on my slick with a da120. Do you think it will be fine?

Most small cams do not have too much in the way of stabilization, but if you soft mount them, they work well. (Ie. on a foam block with velcro)

Mounting to the vertical stab looking forward looks awesome, as does the end of a wing tip. Once airborne the airframe absorbs a lot of the vibration, so videos come out fairly smooth. Ground roll and motor run is apparent, but smooths out once in the air.

The rclogger stuff is pretty insane. I have the pro,but the new cams can do telemetry, and even FPV stuff.

Also, they are already set up to use a rec channel to start recording and stop it or use that channel as a button for still shots.

Again I'm not trying to sell you on this model, I just have one and like it a lot!

Sleepy have you tried the 808 keychain camera?
Seems to be pretty popular in the rc community.
