These dudes are amazing to watch but also make me soo nervous.
I just wonder when pushing themselves that hard, they will go past what the body can take. I know how it is with guys, you always push harder and harder. I hope they always measure the risk and do not get carried away. |

Scott FWIW, those outside snaps were incredible. So precise. Definitely a huge loss to the aerobatic community. |

I did like.... 2'ish negative g's and 3+'ish positive g's....
I didn't like either and have no desire to ever do THAT again!! lol I did notice from his vids... the pitch departure is notice'able and distinct for every snap he does.... and I was a bit s'prised how little Alpha the snap utilized.... for some reason I thought there would be more pitch.... I expect the goal is to use as little pitch as possible (and still be a snap) to make the exit cleaner and reduce energy loss.... |

I never worried about the Gs much. My biggest scare in full-scale acro was a push-push-pull lights out situation. The G's weren't that high, but the push, push, followed by a pull put me to sleep pretty easily. Fortunately I woke up with enough time/altitude to regain control and land safely. |

The big thing with Sean is he APPEARS to be flying wild and reckless, when in fact everything is VERY careful calculated, practiced, and evaluated. His performances never vary even a little bit. He doesn't ad-lib, and is one of the best prepared airshow pilots out there.

I'm not dissing Sean's flying style....he puts on one hell of a show, but the precision and crispness is missing in his flying. I think this is mostly due to lack of world-level competition experience. 99% of the airshow spectators don't know the difference.....but for those of us who do it adds the final touch to aerobatic flying.
BTW - back in the day, I got to the point where I preferred high negative G's to positive. They're unconfortable but you can't pass out...always a good thing And you're spot on Doug, a hard pull after some hard pushes is "Sleepy" time Earle |

The funny thing is, these videos were always cool, but until your butt has been strapped into a plane and you do something even remotely like this, you just don't understand.
I had the chance to fly some aerobatics with Jim Bourke in his Yak 54, and we didn't do anything as insane as pictured, but enough that I felt like I got into a bar fight. The bottom of a big loop was insane, inverted flight was painful and amazing and KifeEdge was... well way more interesting that I had anticipated. A simple fast roll is enough to mess ya up. So I completely can understand how much force these guys are feeling, and I think they are right up there with the most athletic guys in the world! But I still get nervous watching it. |

Impressive??.........Its UNREAL! Its happening before our eyes. Watch........They will have 3 to 1 power in twenty years, maybe less. Full scale "high performance" already have the airframes to handle the power. Fully composite, light weight, super rigid and strong. Its going to be crazy!
