Flight Power's NEW Batteries

FG user the Sukhoikid recently received several Flight Power packs to use. Here is his report after using them in his Yak55M.

Check out the new batteries from Flight Power!

Here is a full report from FG user Sukhoikid:

I must say I am very impressed with the quality of the products. The new 70c packs are perfect for any 3D airframe. I am running the 3800 mah 6 cell 70c packs in my prototype Yak 55M. I compared the packs to the older Flight Power packs and must say I can tell the difference between the two! I am having full performance throughout the whole flight.

Few other changes made to the packs is that they now have the JST XH balance plug. This helps out a lot considering I no longer need a adapter to charge my packs with my chargers. A new deans style connector comes solder on the battery pack. The connector is called the Star Plug, they have fit any old deans connection that I have tried.

The star plug is neat because you can easily unclip the cover that covers your solder joints to check on the solder.

I have bought Flight Power batteries for many years.
They do work very well and perform for many cycles one of the very best in the industry.
I just purchased some FP30's.
I was disappointed when they switched to this Star plug from the original Dean's.
This plug does not match up to the male Dean's plug very well.
The dimensions are slightly off, extremely tight fit.
I tried a bunch of times with different plugs ended up unsoldering and replacing with Deans.
The Dean's female connectors slip in and out easy as pie.
A Star male connector may fit perfect I do no know.
I am surprised they are able to steal the Dean's design without repercussions.
Did they get the plugs too hot when they soldered them in?
You may want to switch back to Dean's Flight Power.
Would be curious to hear from others on their experience with these plugs.

As for the tightness it is all according what deans brand you bought. I have found some tighter fit than others. No bad issues here.

Thank's

I've been using Dura-Lite batteries since 1999 when EmoryDonaldson brought them to the market, eventually had them for a sponsor for many years. I also use the Flight Power A123's in my big stuff. Gonn'a hit the team manager up for some pattern pack's for this year.

Thank's for the info. on the charger. My CellPro-10 just expired , so I am looking at other options.

btw: Nice Dalton.....

Bill

Great flying planes..., never owned one. Best of finishes with it. I've alway's flown Carden's with the exception of one Radiowave.

I didn't want to build, but have decide to go with the 3.1 meter MX2 from JTEC.
