unless a full scale one was built, I would say not legal above imac. There is a small sentence in the rules that would allow you to fly one if a real one was designed and never built. You would have to provide documentation to be allowed. I believe this is how Baron Johnson was allowed to fly the Shark at the nats.

looks scale to what? It needs to be modeled within 10% of a real aircraft excepted to fly in IAC.

Re: Carden Cuda IMAC LEGAL?

as Garret says....

scale to what?

if there isn't a "full scale" version designed or built then it doesn't look scale to anything....

see what he is saying...

to be "scale" it has to be "scale" to something.......

Unfortunately, the Cuda is not a model of a full scale airplane, and therefore isnt legal for any class above basic.

Just because an question is answered does not mean you delete the thread. They stay up so the next person can read as well and gain information. Nothing wrong with asking something. The Cuda is a "sport" giant scale 3d/precision style plane. Its used to have fun but not to actually compete in a contest.

Re: Carden Cuda IMAC LEGAL?

So if an aircraft is deemed to have never been a full scale or flown in IAC it is NOT ALLOWED to FLY in any class above basic?
I ask because I have been asked numerous times and want to give the correct answer, not the answer as I interpret the rules.

It just has to be a model of an actual full scale aircraft. It did not have to compete in IAC competition. IE, you could try to fly a piper cub in advanced if you wanted. Another example would be Baron Johnsons model of Leo Loudenslager's (sp) "Shark." The shark was a fullscale airplane designed and built, but to the best of my knowledge, never flown prior to Leo's death. Yet Baron was able to fly this at the Nats last year in scale aerobatics.
