That would be #8 and #9, roll and pitch coupling respectively.

Honestly, on the 3D models I fly now, I set the CG by how little KE coupling happens. Then I jump straight ahead to setting the KE mix up. I don't fly much IMAC anymore so things like aileron diff and downline mix don't matter for my flying style.

I think Pitch (#9) is worse than roll (#8). So I may just mix out bad pitch coupling and leave the roll alone and correct with my thumbs.

2, 3, 4 & 6 should be designed out of the model for the most part now. Designs have improved a LOT.

Fly straight level, full power. Chop throttle down. Airplane maintains trajectory. Does not pitch up or down abruptly.

Ok, pull for up line, at first looks ok first 100 to 150 feet but then , pushes hard to gear??

Inverted flight at 45, will fly level 45 or slightly pull towards canopy

Diagnosis?

Cam... I may be wrong... but from your input, you may be just a bit tail heavy. Try moving the batteries about 4-5 inches forward and give her a try. This may need a little up elevator trim (one or 2 clicks, depending on your set-up for trim clicks in the transmitter).

The up trim may now help with the tendency to tuck to the wheels on the up line. Let me know your result.

good morning gentlemen: is this a low wing airplane? reason I ask was that when I was building it was common to add a slight amount of positive thrust (maybe 1/2 degree) to the thrust line. reason being is that on an upline the wing acts like a lever causing the nose to rotate towards the gear. with ARFs, I think most of us use a mix to dial it out.

It is mid wing but, stabs are set at zero incidence

And wings are set at 0.5 positive incidence

When I land airplane, in order to make her fly level, when you look at stabs, there is down trim. Meaning, the te of the elevator is lower than the LE of the stab.

The stabs are also significantly higher than the wings when you look at the airplane from side view

There is a reason I changed back to a mid wing design in 2004 in all of my aircraft. Prior to this, the mid wing airplane was pretty much dead. I did not see a single mid wing design in competition for years. Center of lift pressure is such that as a low wing model slows, a good majority of the longitudinal weight and pressures are well below optimal for a given trim change throughout the speed range. Hence, as the model slows, a forward pitching moment.

What are you all basing 0 incidence on?
Thrust, canopy rail, or another arbitrary point that changes from one model to the next?

From Jason Shulman when I was a kid:

Set the airplane on the bench how you want it to fly through the air. Tail up or down, then set stab and motor. Easiest thing ever. Everything was based on this. It just so happens that the canopy rail is very close although not perfect.
