Aileron problem on foamy

ok.. see the thing is.. when i give it full throw, the aileron will bend, so where the controll horn is, it will go full throw, however the further down the aileron goes.. the less throw it gets, so at the end of the aileron gets about 3/4 to 1/2 throw as where the controll horn is... i dont know what the problem is... its tape hinges, but the aileron moves freely without the linkage hooked up to it... any help would be nice

Re: Aileron problem on foamy

its the planes fault sounds like, If you really cared I would get like 2 or maybe just one really small carbon fiber rod and run them along the length of the ailerons, that would fix it, but I dont got a foamy, sure wish I did, which one is it so I dont end up with it,

no hard feelings

how is it hinged ? TAPE ? if it is take the tape off and move the aileron back bout 1/64" if your still getting flex out on the tips run a strip of clear 2" tape like the kind you use to seal boxes, and this will stiffen up the aileron significantly.

Re: Aileron problem on foamy

There is a superior hinge method for shockfliers, it gives 180 degrees throw (can you fold the surface back on itself), and aboslutely NO BINDING. Bit tricky to explain though, but it was the method used on the old ef yak 55's, and it is actually an old control line method.

Takes a bit more time to do, but it kicks ass.

Get a two strips of tape, about 2 cm long, over lap them on the sticky sides by the thickness of the alieron/wing (so in your F3A shock's case, 3mm). Tape one side of the hinge on the top of the wing, the ther other side of the hinge on the underside of the alieron. The overlap is to repvent the hinge from getting stuck to the surface.

Now make up the next hinge in the same way, but this time start on the alieron, and stick the other side on the underside of the wing.

Repeat as necaserry.

Pics to follow to explain this better

The sticky sides oppose one another, what makes it stick in the overlapped part?

i do not understand

"over lap them on the sticky sides by the thickness of the alieron/wing (so in your F3A shock's case, 3mm). "

this too much.. why does it need to be a certain thickness

Is it a possibility to move the aileron servo closer to the middle of the aileron? Or are you running one servo for 2 ailerons???

I get it... You do this but alternate or reverse the top/bottom overlap..

Re: Aileron problem on foamy

Yes, the overlap is to prevent the hinge from sticking to the inside of the surfaces,

if this happen the hinges wont work properly.

You do the overlap to be the thickness of your depron (because obviously this is where the hinge passes from top to bottom and must not stick)

I advise you guys to practive with scrap of depron, takes a little time but it is the best method I assure you!

Any porblems let me know dudes
