Re: Skip Stewart's Prometheus

Rick, I talked to Skip earlier and he said the model did indeed start out life as an S-1 kit. Just like the full-scale though, there's not much left that's stock. The full-scale started out as an S-2S though.

Jeremy, c'mon over! Hopefully we'll do the maiden in a few weeks though. I'm waiting on UPS for a few more items, but as soon as they get here I'll be set.

Thanks Jack,
Can't wait to see the rest of the build. I have several of the Modellbau planes and they are second to none.

Very nice Jack! I remember his PropBuster airshow. It was one awesome IN YOUE FACE show!!

How's your flight training coming along?

Awesome model, there's no better photo than when you can get your scale model next to the full scale plane! She's gonna look great in the air!

Chris,

It's going pretty well! I put working on my CFI on hold to get my multi-commercial finished. Reason being, I've got a few opportunities to get some multi-time, but with the economy being the way it is, nobody is learning how to fly right now... How's the airline business?

Re: Skip Stewart's Prometheus

I still have a job and none of our pilots are on the street anymore so that's as good as this business gets right now. Glad to hear your flying is going well. You're probably right that there is no rush to get that CFI right now.

Re: Skip Stewart's Prometheus

Larry: I'll let ya know when we fly it! I'm still not sure about the Nall though. I'm just going to have to see how money goes...

BFC: Unfortunately I haven't had much time lately to work on it. The semester at U of M is almost over though, so I'll be able to make some serious progress starting next week. I've made a decent amount of progress so far, but nothing is close enough to really post pictures of yet. I'll go ahead and snap a few if people really want to see though.

I'm still waiting on a few parts to arrive from the builder so I can get the fuel tanks and smoke system installed. The smoke system is going to be a little different than what most people are used to seeing on a model. On our models, we typically just connect the smoke pump directly to the mufflers/cannisters. While this works, it does give the possibility of smoke oil draining into the mufflers, even if it's only a little drip or two. In the full-scale world however, most pilots typically use a solenoid between the smoke pump and the exhaust. This gives you a much more definied start and end to the smoke trail. Since Skip flies full scale aerobatics, he wanted that same kind of control on the model. So, there will be a small solenoid valve between the smoke pump and the cannisters to help keep oil from draining or siphoning.
