I saw the raptor at Oshkosh several years back. It does dang nice harriers. Loud as all hell.

I was also at the Janesville Wisconsin air show a while ago when one of the Thunderbird's F-16s inhaled a bird.

For static display, FW-190 hands down. As much as I like jets n stuff, I'm a WWII Luftwaffe aircraft freak geek.
You got some brownie points with that one. The Germans were so innovative. And EVIL! Too bad they were on the wrong side.

The Germans were twisted geniuses! Even their transport aircraft were brutally awesome.
I'm a huge fan of the JU-52. It's a flat out neat aircraft.
And the FW-200 condor, although with it's reported unsatisfactory performance, it's a beautiful and graceful plane. Both the airliner and the warbird conversions. Junkers and Focke Wulf really knew what they were doing.

Bigugly, you would have really liked the McDill AFB open house in the Tampa FL area. I went to that a couple times during long vacations and there were several A-10s there flying around.
If you like jets and WWII, that is the place to be. There is nothing like seeing a Stearman sitting next to an FA-18.

Saw some F-22s, a Corsair (Navy), a Zero, Greg Poe, Sean Tucker, VooDoo and a slew of other planes at a Air Show at Hill AFB. Every one of them were impressive. I must say that one of my all time favorite sounds is a Rolls Royce Merlin. Nothing beats the sound of a big V-12.

++++

ABSOLUTELY

When I lived in SoCal I was adjacent to an aerobatic practice area (since closed). One day there was a flyover by a pair of P-51s, a Spitfire, and one other I no longer remember. That mellow sound was awsome.

Definite agree right here. That, and the sound of a Ryan PT-22 with that 5 cylinder radial. You can pretty much count the pops during idle.

The Zeros from Tora, Tora, Tora were at the mustang gathering in Ohio, they were so amazing in person. A seriously impressive, maneuverable aircraft. They're like the Extra 300 of WWII.
