Just to provide a counterpoint, I've used both, dating back to when they first became available, and have NEVER had a failure with either.

First. Thanks for your reply.

Question. Just trying to understand the "mixed experiences" part before I make a decision.

Are you saying you bought two or more of them?

And, how long ago was it you had this experience(s)? Just want to know how the other(s) fared? And, if you are addressing the same RCEXL Opto Kill Switch with BEC 6.6V version I was thinking of.

Did you fly either of them installed, or did you return them?

To add anxiety to my info-gathering efforts, a fellow club member blames the T-A for the loss of his $3K 3D plane. YOUCH! Needless to say, I wouldn't want that happening to me.

Well, he moved to a PowerBox SparkSwitch Pro which he trusts enough to recommend it to me.

Considering faulty items received or DOA, I do think that "lemons" can be among a batch of product runs. Hopefully the one I get is not the "lemon". So far, no lemons to report in my purchases. Knock on balsa.

Maybe, I will eventually flip a coin and make my choice.

Thanks to everyone who responded.

I think I've bought at least 10 or more, Most of them are installed in flying airframes and working fine. A couple were problematic. Due to the low price I don't consider them worth returning or complaining about. I would not put an Rcexl kill switch in a 3k$ airplane. Buyer beware.

Would you buy the switch if they raised the price to 45.00? That makes no sense. They're a proven reliable switch with a great track record.

Doesn't mean that the TA's are junk either. Just sayin....

The last time I was in China I paid a visit to XU Liang (owner of Rcexl) he gave me a tour of his factory and one thing that impressed me was that he test ignitions and kill switches 100%. I would use this one if it was $45.

I use both and the only failure i ever had was with a Tech Aero died in a hover.. thank god it was only a 35cc airframe.. but these things are electronic we cant tell when something is going to go bad especially a non moving non mechanical part.. its all a risk and gamble when it comes down to it.. point being they are both great products in my opinion choose the one you feel the most comfortable with. Good luck and happy flying

I have 5 RCEXL in service, some modded to work as a ibec some not. No issues so far.
I mount all my electronics with foam/rubber and a velcro strap to minimize vibrations,
These can be found for 10 bucks if you know where to look!

It would be great to discuss techaero vs rcexl in another thread.

I just got a vvrc 16cc. Looks like a winner. Replacing a .91 glow in a BTE vortex (it's actually the arf)
