I too will keep my 14MZ.... I still have the 9Z I bought back in March of 1993... and it still works!!

every option of the 18mz looks amazing. OF course there will be people how say anything agains Futaba. Who cares!!!! lets fly and have fun with our equipment.(of course i love my Futaba 12Z).

I second that, I will have one too. I have a 14MZ and I love it, it's a great radio. Probably no one actually "needs" to have a 18 channel radio like this, it's just cool to have. We all have things we don't need, I have a 12X also, it sits on my shelf because I like my Futaba better.
Anyway, I can't wait for this thing to hit the market!

The new frontier is not some much transmitters or channel counts. With S-Bus that is almost irrelevant. You can now run 18 channels through the tiny R6203SB receiver!! From here on out I think we will see servos (HV and S-Bus), new receivers (a "0" channel RX that can handle 18 servos!!??) and stuff like that. The telemetry is also going to be interesting. it appears that the Futaba FASSTest is actually a 2-way system. The photo below is from a Robbe website and gives some info on that. Looks interesting and promising for those who gotta have" telemetry.

Fun times. My first proportional radio had 4 channels, a metal case RX, was on CB band 27MHz, and had no reversing, no end points, no dual rates, nothing. And I had to walk uphill in the snow against the wind (both directions) to get to the flying field!! Barefoot!!

So we are living in some very cool times for our hobby.

JR and Futaba are both fine companies

I have the 12Z great radio, but the batt. life sucks, I modified mine to take 2600ma lipo 2 cell.
the Futaba lithum ion batt. is only 1500ma when you cycle it, after a year you might as well toss it.
How do you guys find the batt life? I like to think they impproved the 18 channel radio.

I have an aftermarket 2500mAH pack and it lasts the days flying..but yeah, the stock pack bat life suuuuucks

DSM2 then DSMX now DMSS you guys are getting screwed out of receiver cash..

You guys need to compare apples to apples. If you want to by a Futaba comparable to the 12X, you need to step down to the 8FG. I could buy your TV with the leftover. Some of us like to FLY multiple high end planes and helis without giving up useful features.

I bought a 14MZ out of the first batch. No matter how many different radios I've flown/programmed since, I've never regretted that purchase. I promise I won't regret the next either.
