Dang, how bad would that suck! Do you have to tear down the motor after something like that?

Hey, that beats running into the Cessna! Both planes would have been chewed up in that instance.

Any sudden stoppage requires teardown inspection and or overhaul. My guess would be they trashed the crankshaft for safety reasons and the prop blades trashed also.

Probably still cheaper than running into another plane. Don't think the "General" would cover that accident

I'm sure red bull isn't hurting for the money to tear down that motor and inspect the plane.

Sure, they are not hurting for money. It's the time involved, can't buy that. It ain't like nascar where you just rebuild and go. These things have "many eyes" that have to go over them before they get in the air. It's quite the process.

Actually you can buy that, what with Kirby's backup Edges and all.

Although I hate to see such an incident as I know it must have been extremely embarrassing to Kirby, I am glad to find that he is human! Up until this I thought he must be a cyber organism sent from the future to terminate the air show competitors...LOL

He was taxiing way too fast too. And yes, that engine and prop was a whole hell of a lot cheaper than destroying the plane in front of him. Even if it would have been repairable, it would have damage history and not only would the repairs have to be paid for on the Cessna, they would have to pay for the loss in resale value on the Cessna.
And... He would still need a new engine and prop..lol
