60 - 80cc Gas engine

This'll be my first gas engine, so a little advise please.

I won't be using it for 3d - so all out power isn't too important.
It will be going in a Glens Models Maule - 111" wingspan, which I plan to use as my everyday plane.
http://www.glensmodels.com/2005.htm

I'm after something that's reliable, easy to start, smooth running, (preferably a twin, but I'll look at singles too).

Also, I would prefer an engine that sounds more scale than chainsaw.
(If there where a 4c gas engine in this size range, I'd go for that).

The model's firewall is drilled for Zenoah 62 or 80, but these engines seem very heavy to me.

Cheers,
Didg.

your not going to find a twin in the 60-80 cc range... look at the 3w-75, or zdz 80

3W has a 85 twin

DA also has the new 85 (single) out now, might be a bit overkill....but it would sure be fun!!

Re: 60 - 80cc Gas engine

I'm reasonably familiar with what's out there, only I've not had a gas engine before so I don't know what any of them run like.
Some must run smoother than others, some more reliable than others, some easyer to start etc.

I'm after somthing more Chevy and less Ferrari, if you know what I mean.

Zenoah do an 80 twin that sounds right, only it weighs just over 6 lbs without ign or muffler.
Whereas the ZDZ 80B2RV twin only weighs 3.8 lbs, but it could be a Ferrari of a motor. I've no idea.

edit: Just found ZDZ80B2 on another site, says it weighs 4.1lbs.

http://www.brillelli.com/. These are workhorse engines that don't weigh a ton and fit your Chevy versus Ferrari criteria. Don't know shipping to Scotland, though .

Here's a four stroker gasser:

It's 50cc, though. So I'm not sure it would work in your case...
