Anyone know Vaughn Dennis?

I sent this guy $800 for a Carden kit 2 months ago. His excuse in the beginning was he hurt his back, but now has disappeared. His phone works but won't answer.
Should have known when he said he couldn't use PayPal because his account wasn't working right!

If anyone knows him please have him contact me. Thanks

Eek. There is often something shady going on when folks refuse such a safe and widely acceptable form of payment such as paypal. Your mileage may vary, but if a seller is not available to meet in person, I will only complete the traction via paypal or credit card.

Any other forms of payment offer the buyer no protection against fraud... Paypal, Visa [and other majors] protect their customers and will reimburse funds to you before they go after the seller.

I had a guy say he only accepted western union, or Walmart to Walmart payments. Nope, not going to do it. I don't care how good of a deal it is.

Paypal or cash in hand both ways is the only way.

was it a purchase on FG?

Yes, and the guy has been on FG quite a while.

I'm am about 90% sure I used to fly with him at some events on the east coast. From what I remember he was a good guy. The club I remember flying at with him was http://www.monvalleyrc.com/. Maybe try asking some guys there for some contact info? Hope this helps.

have a friend of yours call him, from a different phone number, to see if he picks up?

Sounds kind of a bad way to test his honesty, but 800 dollars is 800 dollars. That is a lot of money. not like 29.99 which must anyone can stand to lose.

I don't know the guy , but I personally hate PayPal, as i have been screwed by their " buyer protection " .. they didn't do anything , had to get my bank involved, and the bank resolved the issue

May not have been an ideal situation using paypal, but Banks protect their customers from fraudulent paypal activities all the time. They don't like to get involved, but at least your bank will protect you with this sort of transaction.
