Re: Columbus IMAC.....who's in?
kenneth, the lake is behind a large wall so we dont get a lot of wind from that area. the wall is low enough and far away enough to not interfere with our flying. most of the time the wind is not out of the north.

is there any showers at the park for those that will tent camp at the field or do we just need to wear extra deodorant.

Attached is a map of the Alum Creek State Park. At the south end of the map you can see the model airplane field. About 1.5 miles West of the field is the beach which has a showerhouse. I believe the beach/showerhouse is only open during daylight hours.

Re: Columbus IMAC.....who's in?
Thought it would be fun to take all of you back to the very first Columbus IMAC Challenge in 2001. Here are the results from 2001. Pilot pictures include Mike Barbee, Will Berninger, Brent Billman, John Boyko, Mike Clemmens, Chris Fry, Jim Gatewood, Marty Hammersmith, Mike Knotts, Kurt Koelling, Mike Lacy, Marty Hammersmith, Don McClellan, Keith Sessions, Jeff Shapiro, and Stan Strobel, (no pic of Hubb - I think he was working on his plane??)
Of note: 8 years later Matthew Laine has already graduated from college and Chris Fry forgot how to fly scale aerobatics..... 2001 COLUMBUS IMAC CHALLENGE BASIC 1 Stanley Strobel White Lake MI 81.61% 2 Marty Hammersmith Bright IN 79.03% 3 Mike Knotts Liberty IN 77.69% 4 Mike Lacy Westerville OH 64.89% 5 Matthew Laine New Albany OH 62.73% SPORTSMAN 1 Kurt Koelling Columbus OH 87.66% 2 Will J. Re: Columbus IMAC.....who's in?
Got five flights of practice this year (and about seven flights of teaching), but I plan on showing up! After all, it's my "home contest!" And for anyone who cares about the weather at the field, know that up to 300AGL it's pretty good, but after that, at least this week, it's been unpredictable. The wind has changed directions quite a bit so stay on the power and rudder! I've had to take off and land in different directions less than ten minutes apart. I know I'll be there practicing on Friday . . . wind correction has been a pain. I suggest if you're not used to the field, to come on over and get a few flights in Friday.
