Hi guys my MX2 is still in storage un-repaired. Motor box cactus and a few other weak spots in the structure.

Agree that it doesn't fly too light but still a 3D monster. I will still get it going!

Would be sad for the thread to die!

I found lightening it as much as possible helped...

Since I replaced the fuse mine is alittle lighter. I had to change my set-up some.As She was very nose heavy. even with 2 servos for the elevators.
I moved my throttle servo back by the rudder servo, moved the rx battery just in front of the rudder servo and got rid of the Ign battery.
I used automotive fiberglass on the motor box. This really helped. I've got a couple of gallons throuh on the new fuse now and the air frame has really stood up. When except where the cowl tabs go in on the fuse. I had to add some lite ply there also.

Well guys I think I've pushed my MX alittle hard after my last wild session a few weeks back I noticed my canopy was cracked.
I think this happened from the twisting of the fuse.

Kerwin,... When your MX eventually expires, I'd suggest you try out an extreme flight or pilot rc as a replacement.
EF in particular make VERY sturdy, well flying airplanes.

Probably twice the price of Dolphin/GoldWing but the quality is definitely there.

Yeah but they are just not as good looking as the Green Machine. I've thinking of getting a slick from 3DHS and probally will, but they are so ugly.
There is just somthing about the Green MX
I'm always getting so many compliments about how good looking it is.

Agreed I went from this plane to a 78" EF extra on electric. I love it! It is so much lighter than my mx2 was. I have not tried one on gas yet but I hear it is just as good. I think I am going to retire my mx2 and just move on.

On a side note I have seen Gary Ward fly in person 3 times this year! The real one is simply amazing!

Do you have links to good electric version build threads? I'd like to see details on how they fitted electriccally and what they come out weighing and get a feel for how robust they are. I don't always get to fly off of ideal runway for light electrics...

With best regards .

BTW I ended up switching to 2 small 2S lipos for power (HV no regulator); no switches; SYSSA ignition eliminator instead of an ignition battery; CF undercarriage; stock side dump muffler; Fuji water bottle tank... seemed to all help.

The EF definitely flies a lot lighter but geez I had fun with the MX2. Was great for learning gasser 3D. I will fix it when I get a spare day!
