It will. Been doing this a long time with great people that are R/C guys and aerospace engineers. So If I get stuck on the math with some changes. they are a great help. Running the math always works. Thank you for the compliment.

Cowl molds pulled. So some clean up and start sealing it with Excel then Excel release agent. Will do that over the weekend.

It is looking good!! Will it have a fully sheeted fuselage?

Yes. Since 1992 I have never did open fuselages. Noting wrong with that method. But I looked at it as a better and easier way to cover the plane and creates a nice solid structure.

Had some cool stuff come in from a customer to layout, print his artwork and lasercut. The Aliens have arrived. Some sort of give away item. Earlier it was vacuum forming small half wine bottles for gift bags. Never gets old around the shop

Looks Great are the Plugs made of foam? what your process of making a cowl plug?

All plugs are made from HDU 15lb density sign foam. Then glassed with 3/4" cloth, epoxy primer finished. Easy to cnc and sand. Expensive but works great.

Cut and fit both hatch's. As you can see the weight does not include the cowl wheel pants, stabs, rudder, wings. Built Fuse, Hatch , canopy, landing gear and tailwheel. So looks like by the current weight we should be at 18-19lbs in the bones with everything bolted on.

Just got the wings and stabs fine sanded. I did have a good friend sheet them at his shop. He does a great job like always. and he is faster than me because its that time of year in the Laser business and man we are blessed.

So you can see the wings are within a few ounces of each other. How the servo boxes sand nice and flush.

Off topic. We have been hired a few months ago to build a partial B17 for a display with a mural behind it for a VA Hospital. Here are the cowls we just finished. as you can see it will be big. Each cowl is 15" round. We CNC the fuselage out of foam also.

Going back to the glue being used, What type of glue will you be using on the hinges?, and will you be using Robart pin-hinges? I'm assuming they are a pin-style by seeing the holes in the hinge lines.

I'm about to use some Robarts on a project(I'd like to anyway), and have been trying to get a general census for the type of glue that's used most with that style of hinge, and maybe a good technique for installing.

If not Robart hinges, then what other brand, and/or what glue will you be using?

Also, will you be installing the hinges and joining the surfaces before covering? I've seen it done both ways, and I've always covered a plane first, but I'm getting curious if it's worth covering first, or if covering is better done after everything is final assembled. It might be a personal preference too, as either way yields good results from all you craftsman I've seen.

I hope I'm not jumping the gun on what you're sharing, but I do see a hinge line there(that looks very good).
