5/16" That come with the gear.
I used a 1/4" bolt cut to size and a bushing hysol'd to the bolt and set screwed in place.

Sorry I don't have the plane but if you can get to the head with vise grips, you can pull on the fastener while loosening perhaps.

on the top of the wing there is a square of wood not there directly over that blind nut. Just cut out the small bit of covering and you can then reach the blind nut with needle nose pliers. this is a common problem on those

open the top square covering, and dab a drop of CA on the silly ply nut contraption. Then you can remove the screw. If it were me I'd replace it like this:

Here are some pics of how I did mine.
My blind nut actually sheared. The blind nuts used are extremely flimsy and it appears about zero glue was used to hold their little unnecessary blind nut contraption in place. There is plenty of wood and structure to support the blind nut by itself. With a new 3mm T-Nut (much better quality) from micro fasteners you can remove the little square covering over the top of the wing above the blind nut. I used a 3mm threaded rod to stick it in from the back with epoxy and then sucked it down from the other side with a large washer. I did ream out the hole a tiny bit.

Great info, I'll be opening up and doing a similar mod right off the bat.

Looks like my Timber project is happening sooner than later. Sold a couple other airframes and now the funds are there!! Parts are rolling in and I'll start building slowly over the rainy days this summer. Probably be flying by fall.

While I don't own a Timber, one that flies at our field had the whole nut plate pull out of one wing and the plane wasn't being abused or flown hard at the time. The owner said the China-man that glued that in place must have run out of glue when he got to that part! If it were mine and I had the wing open, I'd be reinforcing that plate along with repairing the nut. Frankly on the one I saw, the plate looked barely adequate considering its important job.

I lost mine this weekend. Had 6 flights on it.

I just want to warn others to pay special attention to these blind nut discussions. If I had it all to do over, I'd tap every one out, throw the old ones away along with those stupid doughnuts, and reinstall new ones.

Hope no one else loses their tail in flight.

Darnit!!! Sorry you lost it.

Can you elaborate on loosing the tail? Not sure what blind nuts are back there to fail? Details please, I need to know how to prevent tail separation?!!?

Dang that sucks man! I'll post pics of my strut mods when I'm done. I did this mod to a 8' telemaster long time ago and was rock solid. Sucks to cut the covering on a brand new plane and patch it thou....

I've schimmed the manual a couple times and cannot seem to find the firewall to prop hub measurement?!?! Am I blind or can someone post what their's came out at.
Thx in advance
Dean

It's about 6-7/8" to 6-15/16" by my calculations or about 175mm (firewall to spinner back plate)
