Extreme Flight: 85" Extra 300 EXP

Well, It's HERE!

Just took deliver of my new 85" Extra. I must say EF has outdone themselves, AGAIN! It was delivered in 3 separate boxes in order to keep shipping costs as low as possible. The packaging was just stellar. So many little details they put into the packaging in order to safeguard our investment.

Here are a few quick pics of mine lying on the kitchen floor. Enjoy!

Word of caution. You may not notice the two screws holding the canopy down. If you simply try to pull the latches back, you will find the canopy still firmly connected. Do not get impatient, remember to remove the screws!

Thumbs up! This plane might have to get into my Hangar. Lots of HP materials and should be light. The DA 60 I have laying around should take this thing for a ride!

Good luck, post some flight vids once you get ‘er up there! She’s a beaut!

Despite many other ideas that have been suggested, I have decided to stick with my original plane for now: Lightened DA50 with an ES Tuned Pipe.

Is this the one for DA50?

I assume you have experience with these? 60 grams would be a nice diet

RCExtremepower.com

Excellent source for RCAME ignitions. Milton brands them RCXP and provides his own sensor for DA.

I see that. The one on Ebay APPEARS to provide the sensor. No??

Yes it does but the one Milton provides is more DA like. I believe he makes the sensor holders himself though I'm not sure. Milton is also an RCer like us and provides his own warranty. I've never needed warranty on any of his products but his reputation for customer service is excellent.

After having the cylinder machined by DA, I purchased the RCAME ignition and the clamp on sensor unit from RCEXTREME. Works great!

I have to mention that this engine has to have the right application to take advantage of the light weight. I had this in an AJ ARS 300 and ended up with a tail heavy situation, despite moving EVERYTHING as far forward as possible. I even moved the pull pull rudder servo to the inside of the motor box and still had to use a heavy spinner to get it to balance. Using heavy spinner kind of defeated the purpose of lightening the engine.

I'm hoping the EF Extra 85" will balance with the lightened engine without having to add heavy nose components
