Just thought I would chime in here and let you guys know I flew my 118" Bill Hempel Yak with a DA-120 last weekend and with A123 batteries up front it CG'ed perfect and flys like a dream. I have posted some pictures and a video on the 118" Build thread under Bill Hempels web site. Great plane and flys awsome.

Can anyone with the 50cc version tell me what header to use to run a canister muffler? im running a da-50 in mine and my club has expressed their displeasure with my yak running a pitts muffler. ive changed to a carbon prop and thats still not enough to quiet it down. i need to get it down to 96db at 25 feet and a canister seems to be the only way.

I am using a flex header that came with a cheap cannister, so I can just bend mine how I need it. I believe most are using a 25mm drop header though. Also, it may vary depending on what cannister you use. A rear dump with the inlet in the center may be different than a front dump with the inlet at the top of the can.

No problem. I have a K&S 86 rear dump in mine. Works great. The cannister tunnel is real tight on this, so measure twice before ordering a cannister. Mine just fits.

Hi all, I just finished everything on my 50cc BH yak except for engine installation. I have a da 60 and a proflow canister to go with it laying around... would this be too much power for this bird, having a wingspan of only 83in.

NO
A 50cc engine is alright to fly, but this plane needs the 60. Don't think you'll. Be disappointed

+1
I have a 50 on mine. It does good, but I'd like a little more punch than I can get with the 50. A 60 should be excellent. Get some videos if you can!

HAHAHAHAHA, that would be awesome! I think Mr. Hempel needs a yak in that size, maybe even a smaller one for the new DA 35!

Hi guys,
I am in the middle of setting up my 2.6m Yak and just wondering if anyone has used smoke in their model?
If so, can you please post some photos of the way you mounted your fuel/smoke tanks.

Cheers
Aaron
