propeller...

Can anyone tell me how much could improve airplane perfomance by just replacing a wood propeller with a carbon one?

My case: I'm curremtly flying a Mamba ipe with a falcon wood 24x10 on a RCGF twin 60cc... I'm not pretty happy with it's perfomance in verticals... carbon would improve?
Thanks on advance...
G.

Carbon is thinner as well as stronger. It's 100% worth the money to invest in carbon. Not only the wood, but that 24x10 has to be choking that 60 down big-time. Even on the DA70 the Carbon 24x10 sucks the life out of the bottom end.

Not experienced with that engine but on the EME60, GP61, DA60 and DA70 the hands down most popular is the Falcon 24x9 Carbon.

My favorite prop on my GP61 is a Falcon Carbon 23x8 or 23x9 , the throttle response is crazy and it make my ARS300 fell the best compared to a Falcon 24x8 wood and carbon. For reference on my DA70 I run a Falcon Carbon 25x8w, Ive tried a 24x10 Xoar and it did indeed not preform to my liking... And as others have said 24x10 is way too much prop for a weak engine like a 60cc RCGF, EME, DLE...

Carbon props don't flex like wood props, but I personally don't find carbon props necessarily needed for 60cc and below but as you start going up in CC's carbon becomes safer as they are much less likely to splinter/explode... As far as performance increases, that I don't know about

You should definitely give a 24x9 a try.

If you are using a 24x8 then I would assume the RCGF 60cc twin isn't enough power for the Mamba for how heavy that twin is and how little power it produces

Personally I think the best option would be trying a falcon 23x8 and if that doesn't do it then maybe try a new engine like the GP61 which is 3.5 oz lighter than your 60cc twin and has the same power as a Da70.

Just for reference I tried a Xoar 24-8 on a DA70 with 7100 rpm.
Then tried a Falcon 24-9 at 7450,I like the falcon better. It maybe just because I like my engines up in the rpm,but even 7400 is pushing things a little. Vertical pull was much faster with the Falcon. But in a hover they were well match with each other, maybe a slight edge going to the Xoar.
