That hole is in the fuse already and it is for the CF rod for the flaps, the ail has a separate CF rod and it sticks out the end of the wing tip, that is the side that I am talking about.

Cut it flush. No use letting it stick out.
you can push it out slightly to remove it, after removing the flaps.

Yea...that was what I was thinking. Have to pull the flaps to get to it and push it out until you can get your hands on it. Think I'll just go that route. Thanks.

I ended up trimming the ends of the Ail CF tubes to just below the wing tip. Then I JP Welded in a 2-56 threaded rod into the end about an inch or so deep, w/ a 90 degree bend at the end. The threads will help it stay in the rod. Now I just slide it in and just put a piece of clear tape on the el against the wingtip.

That's the nice thing about skinning cats. There's more than one way.

Hi all,
Last weekend I maiden my Pilot RC 122" with DLE55.
Test was great but on the 2nd flight I had an engine cut when duing a half loop right at the top of the climb . Fortunatly for me, I have an on board starter, a press on the switch and the engine is back to life!
on the follwing 2 flight, same issue repeated. when removed the cowl the engine was perferct without touching the carb setup.
I did a big oppenning at the bottom of the cowl but it seems as if the engine still does not get the cooling it needs as there is no direct airflow on the engine.
My questions to this forum is,
1. what is your experince here?
2. How did you cut the cowl for proper cooling?
3. Were any constructions inside the cowl made to divert the airflow to the engine?
4. Can it be that the oppeing at the bottom FRONT of the cowl only makes the cooling worse and it is better to close it?

i'll appriciate your help!
By the way, for anyone who is interested, the started is from SDS hobbies and is sold for 99$. VERY RECOMNEDED! (saved my plane 4 times...). Installing it to DLE55 is simple and requires basic knowledge in engines.

You need to add baffles to the front of the motor to direct air over the cylinders, if its actually overheating?

use the search forum to learn more about cooling, and carb reference pressure as well.
A lot has been written about your problem.

Hi all,
I contacted Tony from Pilor RC regarding my engine hitting problem,
He immediately offered to send me the air scoop for just the shipping cost.
Great service and thank you Tony!
Thanks also for all who helped and adviced.

I have started on mine. Picked it up at Joe Nall. I am putting in the new GP 88 with a Pro Flow can. I am going to make my first attempt at installing smoke it.
