SPECIAL NOTICE: I am getting special early notice out regarding the Mid-Michigan IMAC Contest scheduled for July 18-19 in Jackson, Michigan. Motel rooms will be in short supply again this year due to a regional Hot Air Balloon Festival and a Fast Horses Country Music Festival at Michigan International Speedway during the same weekend. If you plan to attend the Mid-Michigan, it is important that you reserve your accommodations early to assure that you will be able to get a room. Don't delay even if you are not sure that you will attend. You can always cancel your reservation later if necessary.

I have been able to reserve 10 two-bed rooms at the America's Best Value Inn in Jackson for the Mid-Michigan IMAC contest. The cost is reasonable at $69.00 + taxes per night. You can make reservations by calling 517-783-1900. The rooms are identified under the name: Jackson RC Club. It is located at 830 Royal Drive, Jackson, Michigan. Exit #138 from I-94 onto West Avenue. The motel is located just off the X-way by Starbucks.

That being said, now is a good time to plan your trip to Jackson and get ready for a great weekend of competition. The Mid-Michigan is one of the longest running IMAC contests in the North Central region. Rustic camping and RV parking is available on site but remember we have no hook ups. Concessions will be open on Saturday and Sunday with Sloppy Joes and Joe Dogs, so come HUNGRY! We'll have great food and iced beverages available throughout the weekend.

The Parlour Ice Cream Shop is a Friday night tradition for many contestants who arrive on Friday for practice. Some of the most amazing ice cream concoctions you'll find anywhere. On Saturday evening, competitors, club members, spouses and friends are invited to dine at the famous Steaks Eatery. Pay-as-you-go from an extensive menu of hand cut-steaks, chicken, ribs and your favorite libations. Great service and very reasonable prices.

The Jackson RC Club website is linked to the IMAC contest announcement at www.mini-iac.com. Pre-registration will help us estimate our needs for concessions and supplies. You can also go directly to www.jacksonrc.com for directions and information about area motels within a few minutes of the field. Feel free to call or email me if you have special needs or need additional information. The field will open on Friday afternoon, July 17 for practice and set up. Just a reminder that the Mid-Michigan IMAC contest in Jackson, Michigan is a mere 30 days away. If you haven't done so, now is the time to get pre-registered, secure your motel reservations, and plan you trip to Jackson. Here are the scores after 2 and 1/2 rounds of flying today. we have 31 pilots so things are taking some time and we had a small interruption around lunch time from mother nature. So far the contest is going well.

we had an excellent turnout with 31 pilots total and 16 in sportsman. I think that says a lot about the health of IMAC in the north central region. things started out well until mother nature rolled in to give us a little extended lunch break but the rain didn't last long and blue sky's came back with a cool breeze for the rest of the day.
