Try Rob Whalley from New Plymouth, He used to make a whole range of canopies.

Re: canopy wanted.

You might be lucky and get one, but if you don't, making one from fibre glass by the lost foam method might be the answer. The canopy does not have to be see through.

Just attach a block of polystyrene to the model and carve the canopy shape. Polystyrene finishes fairly smooth if you sand in one direction only when finishing. Apply one coat of epoxy and fibre glass cloth, sand off, apply one or two more layers, sand off when cured, then paint to desired colour.

Use smaller fibre glass strips over lapping on the curvy bits. Dig the polystyrene out afterwards. Silicon sealer or small screws is good for attaching the canopy to the fuselage. Our local hardware store has the fibre glass and epoxy for boat building which just idea and low cost but the model shop also has supplies.

If you want more of a challenge you can make one from a soft drink bottle, using mums oven to heat the plastic and before stretching over a mold. There are a few articles on this on the net but it might take several attempts to achieve the finished result. I made a larger canopy using corrugated plastic roofing and the barbeque for heat so it can be done.

Good luck

Thanks for your advice. I picked up some high density foam from fibreform developments here in Palmerston North and the guy gave me good technique as well. one mitre of glass is $5.00 great price. Might post a pic of completed plane. cheers

Please do! Maybe even continue as a construction thread with pics. I'm in desperate need of a canopy myself.
