Question
Life 6.6 V

Hello
For years I use 6.6 V life battery in almost all my planes or Jets
In one I use a BASELOG PowerBox because I use 2 Lipo
In my Carf Joker one servo just burnt (Flap) no crash just lot of smoke
I become paranoid because my friend said all my servos will burt slowly If I dont use a regulator to regulate at 5.9V
What its you experience here and advice....

it depends on the servo model. some may not last too long beyond 6V and others are able to run on 8V with no issues

Not in all cases. A few years back I was interested in some MKS servos that were rated at 6V. I called them and was informed the warranty would be void if run on LiFe batteries or any power source over 6V. That seemed strange as I had run many other 6V rated servos on LiFe bats for quite some time. Since then, MKS now has a few lower voltage rated servos labeled as LiFe compatible. Seemed strange to me but that was their stand at the time. Didn't buy MKS at the time and went with Savox which have worked well.

Jeanclaude, what servo model burnt up?

They come installed in the Carf Joker (ARF) version
replaced the burnt Flaps servos with Hitec
I order a Power Box voltage controller for this plane ...or I can also replace all those servos
I never ad this issue before with LIFE

The servo in the photo has HV on the side! There may be other issues with those servos, not voltage.

Yes would be a great idea to swap all the servos out to a reliable brand considering the model there in.

Any servo you wiull be using in this model will be rate to at least 6.0 (6.6V) no problem, but you will find they will be all pretty much Hv rated now, Ie 7.4 to 8.4.

Just check to ensure if you go to the Hv that you recover and other devices connected are fine with this. This will do away with regulators etc.

Post up some pics of the Joker

Looks great,

You should not need a Reg if the servos are all Hv Compatible (Looks they Are), I would pull a servo out to obtain the part or model number and get some specs on it,

Also i have found some servos operate from 6.0 volts and up so 5,9v regged voltage could be dangerous. as it may brown out etc. Or just not work. lets check what your current servo specs are go from there.

Sounds like the servo just failed and locked up.

Well lets put it this way; a two cell LiFe comes off the charger at almost exactly what a five cell NiMH does. So if these bozos are claiming you cannot run over 6.0 volts, then that means you cannot run a five cell NiMH either. Don't know if they still do it, but sometime ago, there were heli servos put out that had to be regulated to 6.0 volts.
