Batteries

Hay all,
Is anyone out ther erunning a Hacker C50 10L w/ 6.7:1 PG and a Castle Creations speed controler. If so, what batteries are you running. I am putting this set-up in a Fliton Extra Freestyle and I am trying to figure out what batteries. It says not to go over 8000mah with the motor, but I don't know if it is true or not. Could you guys give me some suggestions. By the way, I am going to be using Tanic Packs.

Thanks,
Doug

Re: Batteries

Hey Doug,

I know most of the guys are running 8S3P's or 10S3P's in their 14XL's, around 6000 to 6700mAh.

You should be able to run the same. When I was setting up for that giant foamy Extra, I called Hacker and got their recommendation for my battery packs, maybe you could do that to get a starting point.

Good luck,

Always know you'll be there for help Ken. Thanks. I saw the pics from the your New Years fly-in. Does my dad have a Funtana .90. I asked him but he won't tell me.

Re: Batteries

Mattyduk, I just went back on the site and looked again. It was my misreading. The chart said with 8000mah you can get the posted performance, I went to quick last time and thought those were maximums for the motor.

Sorry Guys,
Doug

Doug,

When I was thinking about electrifying that plane I did some research myself. I'm almost positive they were 6s3p 6000's. Not positive but pretty close. Do some more searching on RCU and you should find it for sure.

Re: Batteries

What I would do is find out the flying weight and work out how many watts to weight you want then work it all out on motorcalc!

6s on a C50 10L gives approx 12lb on 17 in prop thrust acording to motocalc. Thats just a very rough calculation though.

Re: Batteries

Hi Doug,

I have a Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle with an AXI 4130/16, castle creations Phoenix 80 speed controller and a Tanic 6s1p 3100mAh LiPo. The motor is turning an 17X12 APC-E prop and has tons of power.

Hope this helps,

Re: Batteries

Doug,

Yup thats my new electric plane.

Dan's set-up is definitely a winner with that airplane, too bad you already got the hacker

If you call Brian from Tanic and give him the motor and esc you will be using, he'll give you a perfect combination.

Here's the number: 1-800-728-6976
