Does anyone know the out of the box weight difference between the Red Ultracote and the printed scheme for the 91"? Another words, how much extra weight does the printed scheme add to this plane?

Thanks! It would be great if someone would have the weights for the same components in the red covering.

The reason I ask, is if I get this plane it would be electric and I would prefer the printed scheme, but want to keep it light.

I've been trying to zero in on the difference too but from what I'm seeing, the difference can be anywhere between 6.25 and 11 ounces.

I personally think that the red version can come in at 19.2 lbs with the lighter 12S 5Ah packs and a light UBEC with something like a light Ultra-Guard or Scorpion backup. The HW BEC is already wired for a backup battery so a 2S 750mAh adds only 41g.

Xpwr60 = 1153g
Castle HV160 = 243g
HW UBEC = 74g
2S 750mAh Backup = 41g
AR8010T = 24g
5x SV-1270 servos = 325g
Extensions = 92g
Arms = 28g
Spinner = 72g
Standoffs = 85g
24x12 PJN = 104g
2x 6S 5000 = 1460g

Total power and control components = 8.16 pounds
Empty airframe = 11.43 lbs
AUW = 19.6 lbs

So the red version could be as light as 18.9 lbs with these components. And I think removing the pilot and deck will drop another 5.5 ounces.

Jackdl -- can you please confirm the canopy and cowl weight?

So the difference is not that much unless I'm missing something. I'm talking about a 40.5g difference, which is a LOT less than what I'd expect from two of the same planes coming out of the box with different wood densities and onto different scales.

The electric setups we've seen so far come in at between 8.16 and 8.45 pounds and it all depends on batteries. So 19.5 and 20 pounds will all electric components seems easy to do. Drop out the pilot and deck, LG fairings, go with lighter wheels, and the empty airframe is 10.7 lbs. That makes 18.9 lbs a reality with the Xpwr60, a UBEC with backup in place of Rx batts, a light Rx in place of my AR9110, and a 1460g main pack. We've seen some as light as Richard's Roaring Tops at 1390g. 19.0 lbs with 1525g 5500mAh.
